"Maryland Senate Passes Governor O’Malley’s Gun Control Bill

After 10 hours of intense debate, the Maryland Senate passed Governor Martin O’Malley’s gun control measure handily late Thursday afternoon, 28-19, with all 12 Republicans and a handful of Democrats voting against the bill. The measure will be debated in the House next week, with passage nearly certain. After O’Malley signs the bill into law it will make Maryland’s gun laws among the most restrictive in the nation, putting the lie to the state’s moniker, “The Free State.”.....

.....The new legislation will require gun owners, as well as new purchasers of firearms, to get fingerprinted, take eight hours of classroom study, and pay for a more extensive background check. In addition, no one will be able to buy a so-called “assault weapon” or purchase a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds. The bill will also tighten up limits on gun ownership by residents committed against their will for mental health treatment......

Maryland, you fucking suck and everyone that lives in your shithole state should be happy with themselves now. I hope anyone that voted for that gets vomited on by a guy with ulcers and AIDS.

"Beretta wooed by other states over strict Maryland gun proposal

......Virginia Republican lieutenant governor candidate and investment company executive Pete Snyder wrote to the company touting Virginia's favorable tax and gun climate. Beretta already has a facility in Fredericksburg, and Snyder said he could promise Beretta "would be welcomed with open arms in all parts of the Commonwealth."

Plus, he added, it was Virginian James Madison who penned the nation's Bill of Rights, including the right to bear arms....

.....Doug Bigelow of Hagerstown said he came to the state capital to speak out for his Second Amendment rights to defend his family.

"I'm not going to wait for the sheriff to arrive 45 minutes later in the middle of nowhere where I live," Bigelow said. "I have the right to be able to defend myself."....."
