The media in Venezuela is defacto state-controlled. Have you payed any attention to what goes on over there? Chavez has shut down many media outlets (newspapers and radio stations) that oppose him. You don't need to nationalize media when you can do that.

Have you talked to anybody INSIDE Venezuela who doesn't work for a US Media conglomeration..?
There as been a ton of Anti-Chavez media inside Venezuela

but the opposition voice inside Venezuela has been pretty active and pretty strong

6) He's removed Venezuela from the early 1970's agreements that all oil be traded in US Dollars

so he's a Bad Guy / I get it

Yet we have a fabulous relationship with Saudi Arabia dictators
Who support all variety of human rights violations
and wrongly imprison thousands yearly
and overtly suppress the freedoms of it's citizens

But they do what we tell them to do
1) They trade oil in US currency (Daddy War bucks like that)
2) They support the privately owned banking systems
3) They lets us move about the region freely

They are a puppet - thus - we are told to like them
and so we do...

But they are no different than Chavez when it comes to their own people and their own freedoms
