Chizzang - head over to DU, so you can join the Chavez circle jerk :)

Free elections? With a controlled press, voter intemidation, arresting the opposition. Yeah...

Caracas's murder rate has quintupled under Chavez's watch

While the poor are making more money, the increased wages haven't kept up with inflation.

He did pretty good in a relatively short time in power

I'm sure he left the poor the majority of his wealth in his will.

VENEZUELA — Criminal Justice International Associates (CJIA), a risk assessment and global analysis firm in Miami, estimated in a recent report that the Chávez Frías family in Venezuela has “amassed a fortune” similar to that of the Castro brothers in Cuba.

According to Jerry Brewer, president of CJIA, “the personal fortune of the Castro brothers has been estimated at a combined value of around $2 billion.”

There's those evil bankers again.

Iranian State-Run Media Pretty Sure The CIA Or “Bankers” Assassinated Hugo Chavez

PressTV

The Venezuelan president himself, before he died yesterday, wondered aloud whether the US government – or the bankers who own it – gave him, and its other leading Latin American enemies, cancer.

The reason "bankers" are mentioned is quite simple

Venezuela has created a National Bank
Unlike our privately owned central banking system that control our currency '
The Venezuelan economy is NOT controlled by the Privately owned Central Banks
(BTW: The same private banks who control ALL of the worlds currency)
That might seem like a small thing - but it's a HUGE thing

This is common knowledge to those who do not get their news from "Giant News Companies"
Giant companies: Who all read the same script handed to them and don;t even know where "the News comes from" they just regurgitate it on que

My Niece (who lives in Seattle now) spent 4 months in Venezuela last year
She's fluent and employed by an Alternative Energy Company
She was doing a study in Venezuela
Her reports and experience in Venezuela are DRAMATICALLY different than Bloomberg News and FOX and MSNBC

She's no Chavez supporter (that's for sure)
But she basically said the US News is about 85% inaccurate on all accounts
I know that's hard to believe - because we hold ourselves in such high regard

Not much different than the relationship many people have with Obama. Except that Obama takes away your job and money. :coffee:

No idolization here / I wouldn't trust him / But he's also not the monster we're led to believe

But: What's even more interesting than you're dramatic idolization theory is how people who have absolutely zero information are enthusiastic about hating someone on queue and as directed...

Bingo...
and queue the America Colossus News Agencies to regurgitate the misinformation
A) Evil Monster killing Machine in Venezuela
B) Runs Economy into a Shambles
C) Destroying Peoples Freedoms

Meanwhile
12 independent world agencies actually in Venezuela for the past 5 years
A) Free Election process / verified / over and over again / 75% voter turn out
B) Running off US Oil Companies and US mega corporations / taking back control of his country
C) Creating Independent Banking System free from Global Private Banks control

Is he a HERO = Nope
Is he a controllable US Puppet = Nope
Is he an evil monster = Nope

Badly for the United States
We like processing other countries oil
and processing and packaging their fruit and veggies at pennies on the dollar
We like forcing them to sell their oil based on the Oil Currencies acts from the early 1970's - where US Dollars must be used - instead of them selling it using their own money and their own bank

We like it when popularly elected leaders do exactly what WE tell them to do...
Who cares how Nationalization is working for them / it's their country
They voted for Chavez twice and he won in a LANDSLIDE

And of course their economy is struggling now
The Private Banks that have been controlling our money (and Europe's) for centuries are sabotaging the Venezuelan economy

This is where Baldy will imply I don't know how the world works....

Well Mr. Penn, you did forget a few things...
The virtual elimination of private property rights, nationalizing almost every sector of the economy from rice production to cement factories, egregious price controls which has led to shortages in everything from building materials to food, out of control inflation, crime, and corruption.

I could go on and on, but is there really any need? :?

In his whole lifetime, if Chavez has ordered even once person to "disappear" for his own personal gain, it makes him a monster. I certainly don't think he's a "killing machine" at the scale of other dictators, but if one of the many independent Venezuelan sources abroad and at home are to be believed, he's certainly ordered a quite a few. But again, it only takes one.

According to thousands of observers from all over the globe actually - yes
12 different watchdog agencies from across the globe
Several rated the last Venezuela election as one of the best in the world

This is common knowledge (BTW) outside of this country
