IIRC, the federal government wasn't the only entity to make a buck off of their bailout. :suspicious:

AIG just issued a commercial bragging about that, too. Yuck!

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

A couple quick things to google:

1. Fiduciary duty owed to shareholders
2. Business judgment rule

Damned if you do, damned if you don't in this case.

Would love to see a reasonable explanation as to how most progressives/liberals are corporatists, but I won't hold my breath.

No need whatsoever. We already know you two think Obama and congressional Dems are progressives. :dunce:

Just out of curiosity and to stick with the thread, which "progressive" administration was in power when AIG was initially bailed out? And who benefited the most from that bailout? And do those beneficiaries only donate to the "progressive" Democratic Party? :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

Quit being mean...it's a hardcore fiction they've created for themselves... an important part of their mythology.

Better but relatively insignificant compared to Obama's corporate donations. And back to healthcare...who do you think Obamacare helped more, unions or health insurance companies and pharma? Did unions help write that legislation?

The problem is you and kalm don't seem to know the true and correct definition of corporatism....which is assigning and organizing society, the economy, etc. into separate interest groups. To use these groups for political influence and power and controlling the people and activities within their sphere of influence. Labor unions, the Congressional Black Caucus, NAACP, Hyphenated-Americanism, "gender identity", etc. Donks/"progressives"/Liberals have been pigeonholing society for decades now, and is the exact reason why ANY "progressive" worth his weight is a fervent opponent of individualism.

BTW - not that the media cares since they've gotten their headline out of this, but the AIG board decided not to pursue the lawsuit or support Hank Greenburg in his lawsuit.

“In considering and ultimately refusing the demand before us, the Board of Directors properly and fully executed our fiduciary and legal obligations to AIG and its shareholders,” said Robert S. “Steve” Miller, Chairman of the AIG Board of Directors. “America invested in 62,000 AIG employees, and we kept our promise to rebuild this great company, repay every dollar America invested in us, and deliver a profit to those who put their trust in us. To date, AIG has returned $205 billion to America, including a profit of $22.7 billion. We continue to thank America for its support.”
