the nau athletics fb page posted an article about nau losing to oregon in bball and some ¨fan¨ commented ¨ya but at least we could beat asu at football.¨ right the only problem is we already played them and lost 63-6. then during the game on fox sports, some idiot from a satellite campus sent in an email that was read during the broadcast. the email said that he was a 57 year old freshman and he was thinking about coming out for the team. later on in the broadcast somebody else emailed in inquiring about our chances at a bowl game. now dont get me wrong, i know a handful of GREAT nau football fans(close friends), but my god do we have the most uneducated fans in the world?

Heh. Makes me glad someone else was paying attention and caught these doozies, jacksdude109. NAU may be in the running for the uneducated fanbase award. My only explanation is new fans usually are clueless. Belittling them won't solve anything..... calmly explaining the facts will. Lumberjacks fans are few and far between so I won't chase them away. The "bowl game" comment did make me laugh, though.

also my thoughts on saturdays game. this has to be the biggest game played in the dome in years, hoping for a good turnout. i really thought zach bauman looked slow against suu and i heard he was banged up along with a few other players. i feel like if our team is a little more healthy and we dont give up any blocked punts or stupid plays, then we have a decent shot. now if we lose this game, i dont think we make the playoffs. we have one win against a high school team and losing two straight to good teams at home is going to be hard to overlook, especially with our history of late season collapses. i dont think i have been so nervous for an nau game in a long time. go jacks

Mitch Strohman or Kevin Stephens made a comment on the tv/radio coverage that Bauman had strep throat last week. Kind of surprised he was on the field at all. Backup rb's - Deboskie and Jahn - must have been dinged up as well as they only tallied two carries. Bauman just wasn't successful but NAU kept going to him. Injuries, illnesses and a beat up offensive line mixed in with a fired up SUU defense and, well, it was sadly what I expected. Take away the one blown special teams play (blocked punt) and NAU wins. Special teams play has long lasting effects on the game's outcome. Shore that up and don't turn it over three times (a season high if I'm correct?) and it's a whole different ballgame.

I'm contemplating making a drive up on Saturday morning for the game. Weather outlook looks good. Depends on work duties cooperating.

This is about the biggest football game I can remember since the playoff game vs. FLorida Atlantic U. I hope the alums/community shows up but I have my doubts. The students will do their part.

So in essence your argument is that EWU will be penalized for playing 2 FBS's, while MSU will be rewarded for playing a Division II? Who's to say that MSU wouldn't have gotten an additional loss if they had played an all Division I schedule?

We won't get penalized much for the Wazzu loss, we nearly won that game.

The team is 7-1 and they are practicing and playing with a great attitude. STF up about the coach and be a true fan and watch and enjoy this special season.

And as far as the other teams they may have had talent but they never finished. They also didnt have the right attitude or commitment.This team has a chip on their shoulder and they are tough MF's.

EWU is 5 spots higher in the Sagarin. And I guarantee we'll beat UCD by more than 7... they've appeared to ship it in for the year. MSU would also have to beat UM by more than 6, which would be a tall task, as the Griz will probably win by more than 6. Enjoy the cat trap in Missoula!

We don't need a bunch of fancy rankings to tell us that EWU beat MSU... EWU is THE Big Sky Champs this year.
