Why is JMU ranked higher than Towson and ODU in every preseason poll? Am I missing something here?

No Cal Poly?? UND got 68 as Co-champs of the GWFC...South Dakota( who didn't win a title or a road game and who's 3 out of their six wins was against DII/NAIA opponents) got 6 votes, and yet Cal Poly who won a share of the GWFC got ZERO. Stupid poll.

Right now I'd put them at 7-4 and missing out on the playoffs (which happens to coincide with where they're ranked by TSN).

My take - Towson is looking at a down year this year, at least compared to last season. Even the biggest TU homer on this board, Andy, is on record predicting them at 7-4 this year. ODU's ranking is pretty fair IMO, we'll see how their defense improves this year, but they at least have 2 L's penciled in with the game in Harrisonburg & the Oyster Bowl.

I was just reading that ASU's #6 ranking is the lowest since 2005 when ASU was UNRANKED by TSN and went on to win its first NC.

I'm OK with the poll, but it is a preseason poll which really has limited value.

I know. I'm a Poindexter, but I kept a spreadsheet of FCS rankings from Pre-Season to Week12. Never got around to any fancy cross-tabbing and charting, though.



CS and TSN in comparison were both fairly consistent from preseason to week 11 in 2011.

All these pollsters are just sticking the GWFC teams towards the middle or bottom of the BSC because they think our teams and conference was a joke. They know nothing about our teams so all we can do is make them eat crow.

We know Cal Poly lost last year to the only two BSC teams it faced (MT & EWU).
We know UND lost last year to the only BSC team it faced (MT)
We know SUU beat the only two BSC teams it faced (WSU & NAU)
We know UCD went 1-1 against the two BSC teams they faced (MSU & Sac State).

Based on that knowledge, I'm not sure "sticking the GWFC teams towards the middle or bottom" is going to end up being too far off. Your teams are better than our bottom feeders (ISU & UNC), go .500 against our middle-of-the-roaders (WSU & NAU) and lose to our top end (MSU,EWU,UM).
