Tough situation for the US.

If we help (ex. no fly zone), many in the Middle East or world for that matter will say......"American imperialism at work again".

If we do nothing (like Rwanda) then we are belittled for not getting involved.

IMO, we do not need to be the "world's policeman". The US probably does have some special forces units in there already.

I don't think it would be seen as American imperialism as long as we stick to the no fly zone. Most of the world already condemns the Syrian regime, so creating a level playing field between the two factions would seem fair. I think the threshold is obviously putting American/NATO troops on the ground.

You can't be serious...fair? :dunce:

Hey, let's focus on making things fair between the Bloods and the Crips. :suspicious:

Back to Syria...let's make it fair and provide Assad's troops with the latest intel and tactics from the U.S. effin special warfare boys. And let's make it fair for Saudi insurgents...and the majority faction in Bahrain.

Fair...WTF are you thinking? :tothehand:

Bloods and Crips haven't been mentioned for a while on this site...I'm working on bringing them back into the mainstream conversation as oppressed people on different sides of an argument. In their confusion, they sometimes take out their frustrations out on each other, much the way the Syrians are engaging in their current turf war. It would be unfair to let one group get the edge on the other because, as we've seen over and over again, once one side gets the edge, they oppress the other. So, we need to be fair and level out the playing field so they can hash it out like men. I'm secretly rooting for the Crips, though...Snoop Dog and Ice T are the shizzle.

Fair is something I usually think of when thinking of war...because wars should be fair. So, you should now clearly see the connection. :thumb:

I want which ever side wears red. Is that the crips? To be fair, I think both sides should wear purple.

yea it's called a no fly zone for a reason...

obviously, the US wants the anti-Assad forces to win, so to take air superiority away from the Assad regime would create a more FAIR playing field. Really not that hard to understand.

Are you still stuck on that "fair" thing? Really? :dunce:

We want nothing to do with fair...nor should anyone that's involved in a war.

And exactly which anti-Assad forces do we want to win (there are several, you know...or maybe you don't)?

BTW, in a no fly zone, do we not fly? How about a no reconnaissance zone...would that be "fair"?

Simple, indeed. How about tossing in ignorant, stupid, and a great example of how sheeple think? :thumb:

WHY ARE WE INVOLVED IN SYRIA?

Why aren't you bellowing out that Obama is a war monger who is dropping our boys, our bombs, our military products (at a pretty penny, too), our money, and our efforts into all sorts of countries all over the world?

We have 30,000 MURDERS each year in our country...and Obama is worried about a few thousand Syrians KIAs that are in the middle of a Euro-sponsored revolution in order to get a bigger gas line through from Iraq?

Fair...you are a clown.

Alright genius, I'll bite. First off, you are taking this way too literally. What I meant was simply a similar scenario that worked in Libya. Take away the airpower that Assad has and let both sides fight it out on the ground. Obviously, nothing is fair in war and I never intended it to be a 50/50 split. And a no fly zone won't happen anytime soon with the election coming up and Americans getting tired of war.

You also act as if Obama is the only president who has interfered in other countries. I hope you understand that if Romney gets into office, he will do the same thing, maybe more with his neoconservative advisers. So at least you'll get to bitch for another four years. This is an American foreign policy which has transcended party lines. It has been going on for decades, nothing new.

Why are we in Syria? To remove Assad from power. Even a genius like you should know that. :coffee:

Syria isn't Libya. Air defenses are better equipped and better trained and they actually have experience. It will take boots on the ground for the US military to make a difference in Syria. It might not be the quagmire that Afghanistan is but it wouldn't be pretty. We're better off sitting the actual combat out, we can't always be the world's policeman.

Agree.

Plus, if anyone would pause for a moment and think this one through, they would generally all realize why there is no way we put boots on the ground there, and if we did we'd be pretty stupid.

Start with the idea of us materially and directly supporting (heck, even fighting alongside) extremist elements while they cut off heads, utilize VBIEDs, and indiscriminately kill civilians and military alike, all in the name of overthrowing the Alawite minority.

If Obama's advisors are worth a damn they are telling him this.
