Whether or not it's a great hire will depend on results. Sure, it might be time for integration of the HBCUs, but they shouldn't make the jump just to make the jump.

That said, the fact that he's received coaching awards indicates that he MIGHT be the right choice. His experience at a variety of good programs is also a good sign.

Yes his coaching experience at the Division 1 level will do a world of good.

This might be the first hire of a white head FOOTBALL coach, but Southern has a white BOWLING head coach, and she's been their for EIGHT years, and has been SWAC COY three of the last four years. Grambling has a Hispanic soccer HC. AL A&M's interim BASEBALL HC is white, as is their bowling HC (in his 11th year). AL State's baseball coach is Hispanic, and their soccer coach is white. Jackson State's softball coach is white. MS Valley State's baseball and soccer coaches is white. Prairie View's soccer coach is Hispanic.

Still big in that Alcorn hired a white FOOTBALL coach. But the first non-Black (or first white head coach in the league)? Not even close.

Kornblau was horrible because, of a lack of playing experience he didn't ,take the game until the age of 8 playing ,in church league in Harlem and the prep school he ,attended didn't have that much of a football team to begin ,with then he went to a division 3 school, then transferred to Grambling after being spotted by Eddie Robinson.Again if he had attended a regular high school his development would have been further along.
