Ron Paul will not run as an independent. The continuation of his run is more about setting his son Rand up for a run someday. If Ron runs as an independent it screws Rand.

why are we going with percentages, especially for the main parties? Al Gore would have won then. The real question is, where will the swing states go to? How does either get to 270 electoral votes?

And if Paul runs as an independent, what should the over/under line be for percentage?

Rounded to the nearest precentage, 00' was Bush 48% to Gore 48%. Gore had about 1/2 of 1% more in the popular vote.

I don't know of anytime where someone won the popular vote by 1% or more where they didn't win the election. So nothing wrong with going with the percentage predictions.

There was at least one other occasion in a prez election in which a candidate lost the electoral but won the popular, but I'm too buzzed to research it.

And this is my prediction if unemployment drops from 8.5% to 8.0% by Sept (the last month before the election) and underemployent drops from 18.3% to around 17%.

And remember, the unemployment now would be about 10% if 3+ million hadn't dropped out of the workforce.

What I find highly sad from that race is that they have had the right to vote since 1965 and only when a black man appeared on the ballot did they decide to show up. A 107 year old black lady was praised because it was her 1st time voting. Last I looked there were elections in 1968, 72, 76, 80, 84, 88, 92, 96, 00, and 04.

Since my informal, unscientific polling of voters I know and associate with from the 2008 Presidential elections indicates that Obama received approx. 20% of their votes I don't understand how he won the first time and therefore have no idea what will stop him from being re-elected.
