Delaware fans - what happened to you?

I was at the 2003 semifinal game against Wofford and it was almost identical attendance as yesterday. The only difference being the crowd was louder yesterday.

There had to be more than 10K there yesterday. What I saw was not 1/2 the Nova crowd. For the students being gone there section had a nice crowd. And I personally loved how loud the fans were yesterday and the UNH game. I wish Delaware Stadium had been sold out for both games but was proud to be part of how electric the crowds were.

Yep, 10K reported at Newark yesterday and 6K for EWU in Cheney on Friday. Both obviously underreported, IMHO.

I've always been one who doesn't think the underreporting is as rampant as some make it out to be, but there were at least 13,000 there even as a conservative estimate.

I don't remember the exact percentage the NCAA uses but if a ticket is bought with a student ID it only counts as a fraction of a person in attendance.

As bare as the upper corners were, I think you'd have been hard-pressed to relocate and fit all the people there yesterday into only the West and SEZ stands, which hold over 11,000 by themselves.

I'm guessing there was 12-14K there realistically, consistent with your assessment. The students continued to trickle in as the game went on. We had two students, obviously a bit under the influence, come in mid second quarter. The one dude gave everyone high fives, said "who's winning?", then looked up at the scoreboard and said "us, cool."

Oh the joys of going to a school where 3/4 of the students are from out of state.

Perhaps we're not the school you should be attacking for poor attendance, since we sold more tickets than any school in the playoffs, and that was with bitter weather, the highest ticket prices in FCS, and the last two games free on ESPN. Our attendance was certainly down, but so was everyone else's. How did Maine draw?

I don't know why the quarterfinal attandence was down, but the semifinal was played a week later in the season than normal. In the past the FCS Championship game is played this weekend. Because of playoff expansion the semifinals are a week later - and a week closer to Christmas.

I'm not trying to make excuses, just offering a reason as to why attandence was lower yesterday than expected.

I also agree, the crowd looked to be closer to 13,000 than 10,000.

Maine was up 1,000+ during the regular season even though they sucked.......but since this is about Delaware playoff game attendance........Hen f**ks are always bragging about their attendance, yet it looks like they have the same playoff attendance issues as everyone else.
