Eddie Robinson Award Candidates
With all of the talk on Payton and Buchanan candidates who would you nominate from your league for the Eddie Robinson Award this year?

Robin Pflugrad.
Oh, wait, I thought you said who do you think we should award the "Freddie Robinson Coaching Award" given annually to the coach who takes the most talented team and struggles to reach even mediocre expectations.
My bad.

Are you kidding me? That would go to our coach...hands down. Ok, maybe the whole coaching staff.uofmman1122 wrote:Robin Pflugrad.

Tony Samuel, Southeast Missouri State - From 2-9 last year to 9-2 and at least a share of the OVC championship. He certainly should be among the top candidates for this award.
Re: Eddie Robinson Award Candidates
Samuel from SEMO is a good acndidate
I woul add Mark Farley of UNI. Went from preseason pick to finish 4th in the conference to outright champions looking at an 8-3 season. Had to coach a team that lost all 5 offensive lineman, the main running back, the quarterback, 2 WR, all new d-line and linebacking core, and a secondary that is pretty much all sophomores...oh and all while putting in a new offensive set (same type of offense but new playbook seemingly), and a new defense (going from a 4-3 tampa 2 defense to a 3-4 blitzing defense)

Definitely Coach Samuel...but I also think Trent Miles from Indiana State should be in the mix as well. If they win this weekend they will end 7-5. Not too shabby from a team that has been the laughing stock of FCS since the end of the 04 season.

I think it would be a 3 way race. Preseason #7. Eliminated from playoffs in week 7CatMom wrote:Are you kidding me? That would go to our coach...hands down. Ok, maybe the whole coaching staff.uofmman1122 wrote:Robin Pflugrad.

If Chattanooga beats Wofford and makes the playoffs... my vote goes to Huesman.

or the opposite happens and wofford gets a share of the Socon title after last year's 3-8 team I would think Ayers could get serious considerationSkjellyfetti wrote:If Chattanooga beats Wofford and makes the playoffs... my vote goes to Huesman.

That would be rewarding Ayers for having a bad season last year, imo.
(It wasn't his fault they had a bad season... injuries and the flu. But, it's not the same as the rebound Chattanooga has had).
