That's some pretty harsh sweeping generalities. Despite it being the biggest homerville ever a lot of those guys know football and basketball, and should be commended for their passion for their University.
And streamers are **** awesome.
No different on the Zone with JMU fans in terms of homerism or anything else than it is on GoHens with UD fans, Mountaineer Message Board over at Delphi forums with ASU fans, EGriz with Montana fans, SpiderNation on Rivals, etc, etc, etc. Every school with a good program and board with a large following is going to have homerism. Nature of the beast. But with 10-20x the JMU posters on the JMU page on the Zone as here, and you'll find 10-20x the info and discussions on JMU, esp nitty gritty minutiae, that you won't find here.
Conversely, you'll find a lot more info on fellow CAA schools, to say nothing of non CAA schools, on here that you won't find on the Zone. I'm sure all of this is similar with the other school's boards. I'm surprised there aren't more who are active on both the Zone and CS or AGS. Seems like I'm the most active (during football season) thats on both the Zone and CS. I actually wondered over to AGS once after the VT upset and it seemed like there were more JMU posters over there than here, including a # of Zone guys, and i was like wtf?
Here’s the way I look at the CAAZone…
Every member of each school jerks each other off in a circle. And some of the members of each school also like to simultaneously shit on members of other schools. Thing is, JMU has more assholes doing the jerking off and the shitting than other schools. I don’t buy the argument that just because there are more JMU members then that means proportionately there are more assholes. There are simply WAY more assholes that represent (poorly, I might add) JMU than there are decent fellas. And it’s a shame because as mcveryl eluded to, that has become the stereotypical view of the JMU fans. All of my JMU friends are great people, cordial, first to give you a beer and some grub at the tailgates, etc. But not a single one of them is a member of CAAZone, AGS, CS, etc. (at least that they have confessed to, and I've asked them all). What does that meaning? Nothing, it doesn't prove anything either way other than I personally see both points of view concerning how others perceive JMU and its students/fans.
I used to post on CAAZone long before I even heard of CS.com (or AGS prior to that). Under a different username than what I do now. But things got out of hand during the 2004 season and the assholes came out in flocks, which is when I bolted for AGS. I don’t think I have posted at CAAZone in 4 years, I only lurk now, very infrequently though.
I guess the thing that baffles me is how worked up people get on CAAZone (and to a point on CS.com, but not nearly to the same level...people are generally, not always, more level-headed here... of course there are always exceptions, like that that B Falcon dude from EWU). To me, it’s a game. That is it. There is nothing else to it. End of story. The outcome of any game will not make your life any better or worse (unless you have some really whacked out priorities). Maybe a little pride, maybe some bragging rights and some jostling...all in all, just a little fun with your friends

(or enemies

). And 99.9% of the people who get all worked up about this stuff have absolutely no bearing on any game, at any point whatsoever (other than being part of the crowd noise).
So you’re all good on CAAZone as long as you’re jerking someone else off about the same subject. But god forbid if you disagree with someone, and may the devil fuck you up the ass if you don’t have an encyclopedia of worthless statistics to back your viewpoint up.
