Just turned the TV on and...
the Panthers are running the "Mountaineer" package. F'n sweet! Not much out of it so far, but the announcers said the coaches were impressed with AE's arm, and that they had practiced the set quite a bit this week.

Re: Just turned the TV on and...
AE completed his first NFL pass. He also had a great punt return, and picked up a tough first down.
From the amount of replies, I take it I'm the only one who gives a shit. Sorry fellas.
Will I die on the spot if he scores?
Looks like his confidence is building...

Good to hear the Panthers are looking at other options for AE. I missed the game, but I usually don't watch in the preseason.

Re: Just turned the TV on and...
My roommates and I were freaking out everytime he lined up behind center. I'm hoping the "Mountaineer" offense sticks around for awhile. It was awesome. He looks lost out there at WR. Let him throw those lasers! and let him throw one down the field!

THIS is why we have child protective services...
And that's good news about AE. My guess is he will or has bulked up enough to take some hits if they want to run out of that package.

Re: Just turned the TV on and...
I watched all of it (DVR'd it too). I was going through some work when I heard them say "Mountaineer" package on TV. I looked up and AE was behind center. After I changed my pants, I put the work aside and settled in to watch.mountain_man wrote:AE completed his first NFL pass. He also had a great punt return, and picked up a tough first down.

Looks like his confidence is building...
His passes were tight spirals and on the money (Gettis caught one and dropped one). The running plays out of the formation were ineffective. He made two good catches, including one for six yards on 4th and 5, breaking a tackle and diving for the marker. His KO return for 22 yards was solid and his cleanly fielded punt return for 17 yards was solid.
I don't think he was ever in danger of getting cut, but now there's rumors in Charlotte (how valid, who knows) that the Panthers may cut Cantwell and Pike and set AE as the 3rd QB. I won't believe it until I see it, but who knows...crazier things have happened (like the Panthers passing on 3rd and long instead of running a draw).

Corey Lynch had a big game for the Bucs, two picks including a 91 yard TD. Really hope he can beat out Piscatelli

I actually like this idea ... especially if opens a few needed roster spots. On the other hand, their long-term QB problem could be solved from one of the four (plus AE) young prospects if developed properly. They're a skilled bunch, no doubt.ASUMountaineer wrote: ...

And I hate to sound disrespectful
Now --- I could go with something like Aero (but that probably sounds just as stoopid to some of you guys)

Re: Just turned the TV on and...
So.....the mountaineer package is a normal set with a QB that isn't slow and white basically?
Seems racist to name a package after a guy who is actually a QB just because he can run and isn't white.

I agree, I think the "hillbilly" formation would be better.Aho Old Guy wrote:I actually like this idea ... especially if opens a few needed roster spots.
