A few notes.
1. I would put Rackley first team over Hall.
2. Robert Morris LB DiMichele was likely picked to have a rep from the NEC because other than that I don't see any reason why he would be on there. I saw him play and he is just a decent NEC player. Not an All-America caliber player. The NEC is down on All-America caliber players this year.
3. It is great to finally see Devlin showing up on All-America lists and to be honest if he had good receivers he would be first team. He is much more accurate and a better decision maker than Moses.
4. I love the Illig selection on the third team. He is relatively unknown by the media but is one heck of a player.
5. I would move Renard Williams to first team and put Clark on the second team.
6. The entire LB and OL units in FCS are very strong this year and thus there are some quality players omitted who would deserve to be on here in most years.
7. I think Joshua Philpart is a worthy player who could have easily been second or third team.

Nice to see the Big Sky represented well with Herrick, Taiwan Jones, Reynolds, Sherritt and Trumaine Johnson all on the first team.

I'm confused. Shouldn't there have been more Villanova and William and Mary players on defense? Not smacking, just thought they both had good defenses. Were they all just good and therefore didn't need any standout players?

Glad to see Poots representing SUU, hope he backs up all the hype.

I think Hall is a great player but if you saw Rackley you would see why I feel that way. Plus, Hall is just a junior and we do have plenty of talented seniors who deserve the first-team honor right now. Hall on the first-team is not wrong I just believe it should wait until this time next year.

Re: Phil Steele's Preseason All-America Teams
Most of the standout players for W&M's defense graduated with two being selected in the NFL Draft. W&M was represented well on the All-CAA teams with DT Mike Stover, LB Jake Trantin, and CB B.W. Webb all on the first-team. With that said they have Trantin on the 2nd team and Webb is still very young. Keep an eye on a DL by the name of Pierre who could have a big year.SeattleGriz wrote:I'm confused. Shouldn't there have been more Villanova and William and Mary players on defense? I think in Nova's case they have a lot of good players and don't have a team of 2-3 stars with a bunch of no names. Almost every player they have returning is on their preseason All-CAA team with LB Terence Thomas (1st team), DL Marlon Johnson (2nd team), LB Marquis Kirkland (2nd team), S John Dempsey (2nd team), and CB Jimmy Pitts (2nd team).
I believe Nova had 12 spots on the preseason All-CAA team while W&M had 7. For the record I disagree with their W&M pick and do believe Nova repeats as the CAA winner.

Blueballs: The ultimate 'bad case of the wants.'
Re: Phil Steele's Preseason All-America Teams
The fact that neither Terence Thomas or Marquis Kirkland are on that list (in any capacity) makes me highly suspect.

Congrats to LB Marty Patterson - #39 and OL Corey O'Daniel - #76 for making the second team. Looking forward to watching you guys and all of the others play real soon.
