You're right BF, it's just jealous envy from the rest of us out here, especially me. I'm so angry that JMU hasn't taken a page from the EWU book of stadium upgrades. Instead of getting this sweet turf laid down:
JMU has decided to get rid of their track, upgrade their training facilities, expand the capacity of the stadium, include a club lounge for fans, new press box, better lighting, etc... etc. What a fucking waste when we could have that sweet purple turf. You guys are doing it right out at EWU :
1. Track around the field
2. High school football bleachers
3. Parking lot closer than permanent stands
4. Sweet ass red turf
It's your time to shine man! EWU 2010! I'm officially on the bandwagon, you heard it here first.
Im a fan of JMU but their stadium has some major flaws.
1.Doesnt have a, what I like to call 'grass feel'. Grass feel simply means, as a player when your standing on the field you FEEL like your on a grass field. JMU's stadium feels like your standing in a parking lot.
2. the track might be gone but it looks like its still there
3. the building in the endzone looks like crap.
4. scoreboard/videoboard needs to be upgraded or replaced
5. The expansion is gonna have the stadium looking very lopsided for LOOONG time.
6. the stadium is NOT enclosed
7. No quality pressbox or sky suites yet
8. the restrooms & snack bar area needs a little work and needs to be increased.
I know Eastern's stadium needs work and thats why im CONSTANTLY donating large sums of cash to the (football) athletic department. Ive been asked to be a consultant on the 2012 Woodward upgrade project.

I have now officially heard it all.

That guys business card is ridiculous. I guess it works for what he does, but no way is a fortune 500 CEO having a pop-up business card that shoots out confetti.
JMU's old turf may have felt like standing on concrete, the new turf has a "grass" feel, I've played on both. Track is gone, bleachers are being moved closer, and unless I'm mistaken they are starting the process of "bowling" the stadium by upgrading the north endzone (to quote you: "Check the sig"). Scoreboard got put in when I was there... it does suck for the hype it got. Lopsided, yes, but hopefully not Youngstown lopsided. Quality pressbox, suites and club seats included in Phase 1 upgrade. Restroom and snack bar area upgrades included in phase 1.
I know this is the EWU upgrade thread, but in case you hadn't seen this.

1.Even though JMU has nice field turf, you still get the feeling your standing in a parking lot.
2.A bowl is NOT ENCLOSED. Is it?
3.That ugly, eyesore building isnt going anywhere.
4.it will be a great fcs stadium but again, lopsided.

2.A bowl is NOT ENCLOSED. Is it? Neither are a lot of "horseshoe" stadiums: Sanford, Ohio Stadium, etc. But they're still pretty beast looking.
3.That ugly, eyesore building isnt going anywhere.Eh, to each his own. I guess they could have put it elsewhere, but in case you don't know what it is: http://www.jmusports.com/ViewArticle.db ... LID=789024 Take it you don't like Harvards stadium either
4.it will be a great fcs stadium but again, lopsided. Yup, hopefully they will follow through with the rest of the plans so it doesn't remain that way.... forever. Game.Set.Match.BblackFalkin (with 2 b's for a double dose of greatness)

I didn't realize we were battling here.
Apparently only Idaho State, UNI, NDSU, UND, USD, and NAU have enclosed stadiums.

The red field turf will be a nice addition but every EWU fan knows that further upgrades to old Woodward are going to have to happen for it to be a really quality FCS stadium. New score/replay boards are supposed to happen in the near future and the biggest thing in my mind is the entire visitors side seating needs to be scrapped and a new permanent structure put up. I'm tired of looking at that eyesore for the past however many year. And oh yeah....at some point they're going to need to do something about the parking. I personally don't mind having to walk 10 blocks to watch a game, but that doesn't really suit everyone.

I agree my good man. In my opinion this is the priority checklist for Roos Stadium.
1.Visitor grand stand
2.Score & video board
3.Artificial surface
4.Track removal & lowering
5.Increased parking
If i could control it, Id place the new board before the track. So it will *look* like this from the field.

I'm not sure what the plan for the scoreboard will be, whether they will simply replace the existing one, or scrap the entire thing and put something new up. I do like the look of SDSU's, nice and intimate, although I am not sure if having it ground level like that would work at Woodward with the seating at both ends of the field. I think it will have to be elevated.
It'd be nice to get rid of the track and place additional seating closer to the field, although I don't know if it would ever happen. You'd obviously have to find someplace to put a new track - a lot of FBS schools including Boise State still have tracks in their football stadiums; I think it's something we'll have to put up with for the unforeseeable future, unless someone calls up Bill Gates.
As far as parking goes, it's a joke not just for football games, but all over campus. Or at least it was when I went there back in the day. I can only imagine what it's like now. They need to expand that upper parking lot.
