Well, they aren't playing an FBS team, so obviously they won't be prepared for the playoffs... if they get there.

Very true. But will West Chester prepare them better than Western State?

OK, you traveled to one SoCon for a regular season game. That's a start. Delaware has traveled to The Citadel, Georgia Southern, and Furman in the regular season in the past decade. Going back a bit farther, Delaware traveled to Western KY (as a I-AA) and Youngstown St. It's not like we're particularly afraid to play anyone, if it makes financial sense.
Big whoop. I'd say a good 75 to 80 percent of FCS schools reside within a 600-700 mile radius from Newark. Not even all of the BSC schools reside within 700 miles of a each other. Hell, there's maybe 10 schools period within a 600-700 mile radius of any school in the BSC.

West Chester is off the schedule effective 2012 and Delaware State (also FCS) is on. DSU will also be home-home-home. If you draw 20,000 plus every game you don't need to travel west of the Mississippi.

I know DelState is confirmed on, but where did you see it confirmed that West Chester is confirmed off after 2011? I know K.C. has stated a preference to get them off the schedule, and having a D-II is obviously a liability in terms of getting seven D-I wins when you face the CAA meat grinder every year, but I haven't seen anything in writing saying we absolutely aren't extending the WCUPA series. Here's hoping we don't.

The News Journal has reported several times the West Chester contract expires after the 2011 game and Muir confirmed they are not renewing.

three home ooc. Weak.
1. SDSU is no cupcake.
2. And for all at home. Well draw 20,000 plus each game rather than the 6,000 Northern Arizona draws and you'd see how many teams would want a piece of your gate.
3. Big OOC games are tough to get these days in the CAA. UD, Nova, Richmond, W&M, JMU & UNH have all beaten BCS teams the past few years.
4. You beaten the Griz yet?

Delaware made out like bandits with the CAA schedule. No flights involved, and they miss UNH. W&M looks to have three flights to UMass, UNH and Maine. Rumor circulated at the bball game last night that the conference will pay for one of those flights.

Plusses for the Tribe are getting the bye in the middle, and hosting the Hens for the second straight year, as well as getting Nova and Richmond at home. We'll have two weeks to get ready for Devlin and Company.
Go Tribe!!!

Ummm.......because W&M would be playing 3 games in NE while Delaware only plays 1????
I guess that is good for the Hens, but I still don't see why W&M's schedule is relevant on a thread about UD's schedule. Maybe we should compare every teams schedule to Delaware's.

I don't think Montana is playing any games in the NE this year, I'm sure there are others too. :?

Just pointing this out maybe its about time another team besides Montana got called out for scheduling weak teams? Especially since it appears alot of you CAA guys always jump on that bandwagon. SDSU i would say is a good game since i think the Jacks will do good things this season. But West Chest and Duquesne are both very weak teams :twocents:

It's not out of the question that when the season ends, Delaware will have played 5 or maybe even 6 playoff teams. Delaware does not need to upgrade it's OOC schedule.

Yeah, I mean even with West Chester on the schedule, Delaware had the #1 most difficult regular season schedule last season. To say our schedule is ever weak is laughable. How many other teams in FCS have a top 15 OOC FCS team on their schedule for 2010? Can't be more than a handful. The athletic dept knows that WCUPA is a liability, and as alluded to here, they are likely not renewing that contract. I'd expect Delaware to continue scheduling 7 lucrative home games per year, to include Del State, a Patriot or NEC school, and an FCS headliner or Navy each year after 2011. It's not like Delaware fans are proud of our "rivalry" with a D-II. We wish it good riddance in fact.

I think the West Chester contract ends after the 2012 game, meaning they're still on the schedule through 2012. But yes, there's all the indications in the world that they will be dropped after the current contract runs out.

As for UD's schedule, OOC-wise it's not strong - very good game with SDSU (wish everyone could've stayed with the 3 game series but that's life) and then two patsies. In conference, well, it's the CAA, it's a very tough schedule. Certainly caught a break getting to play URI and Towson while avoiding UNH. As others have said, if this isn't a playoff schedule this year, especially with the host of talent UD is returning, there'll be a new coach in Newark after the season.

Exactly, I will never fault a CAA team for throttling it back on the OOC due to the strength of that conference. Montana, on the other hand, are just plain pussies.

Call this out. 2009 UD schedule included 3 of the 8 FCS playoff teams and the 2010 schedule includes 4 of this years 8 playoff teams. Weak schedule my ass. Name me another team that has 4 of last years playoff teams scheduled. BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Richmond is the only other one.
