They had BG's stats wrong. He was 31/42 324 yds, per game stats.

Edwards piled up the fourth-highest, single-game total offense performance in Appalachian State history as the Mountaineers torched Furman, 52-27, Saturday on the road. Playing just three quarters, Edwards completed 25-of-36 passes for 355 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 10 times for 106 yards and four more scores. The 2008 Payton Award winner also became the first player in NCAA Division I history to exceed the 9,000-yard barrier in passing and the 4,000- mark in rushing for a career. Edwards now has 9,184 yards passing and 4,132 yards rushing for a career total offense figure of 13,316 yards. His total offense mark ranks him fourth in FCS history. It was the second time this season that Edwards has been named national player of the week.

Tommy Beecher went 15 of 17 with 2 TD's and added a rushing TD and was named Big South O-POTW.

SirChauncey Holloway (Best name on the team, by the way) was named Frosh OTW with 99 yards and two scores.

Edwards is a beast but George gets overlooked in the SLC by Moses. However, nice to see BG listed with AE

As stated above, the stats are slightly off. I don't know who gave out the numbers for Saturday (SID?) but they're wrong. The 31 completions actually breaks the (his) school record. And with the 324 yds George became the all time passing yards record holder for the SLC. He's not anywhere near the same type QB/player as Edwards but, we like him and I'm proud to have had him there these past 4 seasons.

Big Sky and National Defenisve POW: EWU's Matt Johnson (So., SS) had 4 interceptions to tie the Big Sky record (most since 20 years ago) in a domination of Portland State.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Matt Johnson, Eastern Washington, SO, 6-1, 205, Linebacker, Tumwater, WA.

Johnson tied a Big Sky Conference record with four interceptions in Eastern Washington's 47-10 victory over Portland State at Seattle's Qwest Field. Johnson became the third player in league history to pick off four passes in a game, and the first in 20 years. He tied the mark held by Ed Cerkovnik of Montana (1977) and Mike Babb of Weber State (1989). Johnson picked off two passes in the first quarter. His third interception came in the second quarter and stopped a PSU scoring drive. Johnson added the fourth interception in the fourth quarter. Eastern Washington limited Portland State's run and shoot offense to 163 passing yards, one season after the Vikings had 623 passing yards in an upset of the Eagles. Johnson also registered two tackles.

Johnson credited EWU’s ability to change and disguise its passes coverages for his first two interceptions, explaining, “Their quarterback never even saw me.” But his third and fourth picks, he added, were the result of him reading receivers and making plays.

“We strive on turnovers and try to get three a game, at least, on defense,” Johnson said. “We know it’s a big boost for our offense, especially when things aren’t going right for them.”
