Big Sky

MTST 24-35 EWU
UCD 34-31 PORTST
UMT 45-30 SAC
IDST 12-40 NAU
WEB 28-20 NCOL

  • NConf Record: 0-1
    Overall: 9-12

    vs. FCS: 0-1
    Overall: 5-2

Best Performance: (#2) Montana 45, Sacramento St. 30 - The Griz defense struggles with its two starting corners hurt, but they get a couple 100-yard rushers on offense to make that point moot.

Worst Performance: Idaho St. 12, (#24) Northern Arizona 40 - In Big Sky play, the Bengals have lost by an average score of 38-11.

Most Surprising Result: Eastern Washington 35, Montana St. 24 - The Eagles got the job done, but they still struggled with a Bobcat team that was missing about 15 players (including both kickers) due to injury & illness. They also gave up 592 yards to an offense that was averaging 334.

Southland

SHSU 3-42 SFA
NICH 13-42 UCA
TXST 20-17 NWST
SELA 35-36 MCNSE

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 16-16

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 7-6

Best Performance: (#15) Stephen F. Austin 42, Sam Houston St. 3 - After throwing 5 TDs in this one, Jeremy Moses leads FCS with 25 total touchdown passes.

Worst Performance: Sam Houston St. 3, (#15) Stephen F. Austin 42 - The Bearkats avoid committing any turnovers, but that doesn't matter too much when you're outgained 566-186.

Most Surprising Result: (#12) McNeese St. 36, Southeastern Louisiana 35 - Derrick Fourroux throws a 5-yard TD pass to Richard Connor in the final minute to get the Cowboys another cardiac win.

Missouri Valley

MIZST 21-17 NDSU
UNI 14-24 SDKST
YSU 8-27 SIU
WIU 14-17 INST

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 11-13

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 10-5

Best Performance: (#11) South Dakota St. 24, (#6) Northern Iowa 14 - Still acting as Ryan Crawford's replacement, Jackrabbit RS-Freshman QB Thomas O'Brien throws for 285 yards and 2 TDs to ouduel the veteran Pat Grace.

Worst Performance: Western Illinois 14, Indiana St. 17 - When you give up 160 rushing yards to the Indiana State QB, it's tough not to get a worst performance honor.

Most Surprising Result: Indiana St. 17, Western Illinois 14 - Indiana State earns back the right to be called Sycamores instead of Sickamores… at least for one week.

OVC

EIU 28-20 JAXST
SEMO 16-28 TTU
MUR 24-38 UTM
EKU 20-24 AP

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 10-15

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 5-7

Best Performance: (#25) Eastern Illinois 28, (#13) Jacksonville St. 20 - The Panthers turn Jacksonville State back into OVC mortals largely thanks to an 87-yard kick return touchdown by Lorence Ricks.

Worst Performance: (#21) Eastern Kentucky 20, Austin Peay 24 - Colonels are outrushed 263-83 by a team they hadn't lost to in 32 years.

Most Surprising Result: (#13) Jacksonville St. 20, (#25) Eastern Illinois 28 - After outscoring their first four FCS opponents by an average of 40 points, the Gamecocks surprisingly fall here.

Tomorrow: the rest of the playoff conferences.

Best Performance: (#22) Holy Cross 42, (#17) Colgate 28 - With the Crusaders scoring 42 on Colgate, you'd expect that QB Dominic Randolph shredded them. Worst Performance: Bethune-Cookman 10, Winston-Salem St. 16 - The slumping Wildcats only gain 217 yards & hand WSSU their first win of the season.

Most Surprising Result: Winston-Salem St. 16, Bethune-Cookman 10 - Rams get their first win despite losing the third-down battle 50%-0%.

You think losing to W&M and beating Hofstra are worse than losing to Northeastern by 20?

For UNH, yes. And JMU was god awful in the game - not even close to being competitive. The way JMU played that game, Towson could have beaten them.
