Re: 2022 Early Signing Day Recruits
Don’t see a thread for FCS AA/All Conference players transferring up, so will put here. JMU loses their AA WR Wells to the transfer portal:
After only 2 seasons, probably the best WR JMU has ever had.
Like someone on the JMU board put it:
Offers out of High School: JSU, Robert Morris, Campbell
Offers out of FUMA (Fork Union Military Academy (PG)): Maine & JMU
Offers out of JMU: Miami, VT, Miss St, ECU..
First ‘normal‘ season with the transfer portal and this new anyone can move up/move lateral & don‘t have to sit out a season. Going to turn every season into a transfer meat market.
https://www.dnronline.com/dnronline/jmu ... b1973.htmlThe outgoing Wells set three program single-season records – receptions (83), receiving yards (1,250) and touchdowns (15) – this fall.
After only 2 seasons, probably the best WR JMU has ever had.

Shouldn't FBS news be in with Other College Sports.BDKJMU wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 11:13 pm Don’t see a thread for FCS AA/All Conference players transferring up, so will put here. Re: 2022 Early Signing Day Recruits
Will JMU be eligible for the 2022 FCS playoffs?
JMU might not be FBS yet but that doesn't mean they're still FCS.

Another coup for Coach Prime: the #6 WR in the country.
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Oh well, going to be a Gamecock. Maybe he can team up with the former NDSU QB at SC now.BDKJMU wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 11:13 pm Don’t see a thread for FCS AA/All Conference players transferring up, so will put here. Re: 2022 Early Signing Day Recruits
As I understand it:
Marshall in 1996 won won the I-AA NC (going 15-0 on a team loaded with NFL talent including Randy Moss, that just destroyed everyone), and then the follwoing season was I-A in the winning the MAC and going to a bowl. Then the ‘the Marshall rule" was implemented that required the two year transition process. EVERY I-AA/FCS move up since in the last 25 years has had their last season in I-AA/FCS as playoff ineligible as year 1 of the transition process.
-‘Officially’ announce before (July 1?) of that calendar year, and you would be FCS playoff ineligible that upcoming season, I-A/FBS the next season (examples believe this was the case with App St and GSU in 2013).
-‘Officially’ announce after July 1 (examples like JMU, ODU), playoff eligible that season, I-AA/FCS playoff inelgible the next, then I-A/FBS the next. That seems to be the case with every moveup going back to Marshall.
I had just assumed JMU would be a playoff ineligible FCS next season (like I believe SHSU and JSU will be). Nope. Turns out JMU WILL officially be FBS next season (due to a full Sun Belt schedule AND a 5th home FBS game). JMU will apparently be the 1st moveup in 25 years since Marshall with their last season in FCS as playoff eligible. So instead of having 2 throwaway seasons:
-Playoff ineligible in FCS.
-Conference & bowl ineligible season in FBS,
JMU just just has the one throwaway FBS season next season. So y’all are actually getting rid of me on here 1 year earlier.

Re: 2022 Early Signing Day Recruits
Bison add 3 more to signing class, and a transfer.
The latest commitments are from cornerback Jaquise Alexander from Ruskin, Fla.; long snapper Caleb Bowers from Whitefish Bay, Wis.; and athlete Isaac Hyland from Fond du Lac, Wis.
Alexander (5-10, 165) was a four-year starter for Tampa Catholic High School and a team captain his senior year under coach Jeris McIntyre. An all-conference honoree, Alexander had five career interceptions and helped the Crusaders to the Class 3A regional semifinals in 2021. He plans to major in management.
Bowers (6-2, 225) was a four-year starter for Whitefish Bay High School under coach Jacob Wolter. An all-conference offensive and defensive lineman as a senior, Bowers helped the Blue Dukes to a 9-3 record and state quarterfinal appearance in 2021. He finished his career with 42 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. He plans to major in business administration.
Hyland (5-10, 165) was a three-year starter for St. Mary's Springs Academy, where he was a two-time all-conference performer both as a defensive back and running back. Hyland made 159 career tackles, 14 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and three interceptions. He averaged 6.9 yards per carry rushing for 2,491 career yards and 31 touchdowns. He plans to major in computer engineering.
Hyland was coached by his grandfather Bob Hyland, a Bison Athletic Hall of Fame offensive lineman from 1967-1969 who is now Wisconsin's all-time coaching wins leader. His father, Rob Hyland, was a quarterback for the Bison from 1992-1996.
One transfer has also already joined the Bison program for the 2022 season. Tight end Jacob Streit from Watkins, Minn., graduated from Division II Northern State University and will have two years of eligibility at NDSU. Streit made 69 receptions for 914 yards and 10 touchdowns in 25 career games for the Wolves. His brother, Joshua Streit, is a member of the NDSU men's basketball team.

Fargo is almost as far from DeKalb, IL (the home of NIU, the western-most member of the MAC) as Buffalo (the eastern-most member of the MAC) Adding NDZU would double the geography of the MAC. The MAC is more likely to be interested in Illinois State or UNI than NDZU.
