Trump also didn't let those warmongers get to live out their fantasies though. Obama, and now Biden*, will.UNI88 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:23 amHe deserves credit if he delivers. There is good reason for skepticism though.Skjellyfetti wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:00 am
Did Trump never do that?
I guess we need to parse out what qualifies as a war.
Also, sounds like Biden is planning to stop US support for Saudi against Yemen. So, that would be starting at -1 if he follows through
Trump had some warmongers (Bolton, Pompeo) in his cabinet as well so maybe the Biden administration will be different than Obama's.Take returning Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, for example. More than anyone else she is the face of the US-led violent coup against a democratically elected government in Ukraine in 2014. Nuland not only passed out snacks to the coup leaders, she was caught on a phone call actually plotting the coup right down to who would take power once the smoke cleared.
...
Power, who served on President Obama’s National Security Council staff and as US Ambassador to the UN, argued passionately and successfully that a US attack on the Gaddafi government in Libya would result in a liberation of the people and the outbreak of democracy in the country. In reality, her justification was all based on lies and the US assault has left nothing but murder and mayhem. Gaddafi’s relatively peaceful, if authoritarian, government has been replaced by radical terrorists and even slave markets.

Another US military convoy, including 60 trucks, was transported to Syria through Iraq's Al-Waleed border crossing, Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.
Local sources in the village of Al-Suwaidiyah told SANA that a US military convoy arrived in Syria illegally from Iraq’s Al-Waleed Border Crossing.
This military convoy includes 60 trucks carrying military equipment and logistics that entered al-Hasakah in northern Syria through Iraq’s Al-Waleed border crossing.
The occupying US military, which is collaborating with Qassad forces to plunder Syria's oil resources, has brought in several trucks carrying weapons and fuel tankers to its military bases in northern Syria in recent months.

Protecting the Kurds (the only trustworthy ally in the Middle East) with our presence in Northeast Syria is one of the few foreign military ventures I'm fine with. The Kurds have never done anything harmful to the us, always assisted when we've asked, basically stopped ISIL, and the reward they got was Trump abandoning them to get f*cked by the Turkish, Syrians, and Russians.
The Kurds deserve our help more than Israel, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, UAE, Egypt, Iraq, and honestly every Middle East nation combined.

Syria - with a weak military and ongoing civil war - is going to start a war with the United States. Just ignore the fact that when we had a presence to protect the Kurds, they didn't attack. But yeah genius, this time the Syrians will.
Putin and Erdogan found an opportunity in Trump to get the US out of Kurdistan and the b*tch complied. Russia and Turkey finally got the chance to f*ck the Kurds, get rid of some people they hate, pillage the land, destroy infrastructure, expand influence...and it's all thanks to baby-hands.

The Kurds in northern Iraq and the only one’s really helpful to the United States...deserving our protection.∞∞∞ wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 8:32 pm Protecting the Kurds (the only trustworthy ally in the Middle East) with our presence in Northeast Syria is one of the few foreign military ventures I'm fine with. But the Kurdish people have been screwed since the end of WWI when the Ottoman Empire was broken up, and Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Turkey got their current borders...there are Kurds in each of those countries
We have never done anything to help the Kurds until the Gulf War when the Iraqi Kurds took advantage of the war with Saddam to start moving toward independence...
But that’s something Turkey (under ANY ruler) opposes...because it emboldens the various Kurd factions within Turkey...especially the PKK, the Kurdistan Workers Party...
So, Trump withdrawing does hurt the Kurds who helped us in the past (I have a friend who’s F-16 was struck by AA fire during the Gulf War, and he punched out over northern Iraq and owes his life to the Kurds who rescued him)...it does not help or hurt the Kurdish people as a whole...

The reprogramming/re-education camps fear aside...how do we spread love and restore harmony and a sense of community?

We stop listening to the extremist whackadoodles on both sides, respect different opinions/ideologies (i.e. we don't try and "detox" people just because they're conservatives) and try and find common ground.

Fear? That's a stretch there kalm. But they DID say this, so yeah, there will be no spread of love and harmony in our two party system as long as people don't sincerely want to work with the other side. This is the perfect example of it.

I think that's more where the two sides disagree. I'm sure it's a function of where I live, but the extremist whackadoodles are your run of the mill liberal around here. Mrs89 works for the county and you should see the shit they're trying to pull right now.

Are we talking about “the (entire) other side” here or the millions who buy into a stolen election and their representatives reaction to it?
I think you and I for example can agree on much. Heck you might only require day camp.

I know people who I think are normally reasonable that hate the entire other side. The media folks who talked about the deprogramming were talking about everyone who voted for Trump. All 74,223,744.

I didn’t know that. I don’t follow them that close I guess.
But I can totally commiserate with your first sentence. And that obviously is true for both sides of the spectrum.
As in, I’ve had to completely shut down political talk with certain close friends. Me...in a calm voice:
‘Hey...let’s not talk politics again, it doesn’t really go anywhere. How’s the wheat crop looking?’
Friend...in a quiet voice:
‘Yeah...you’re right, kalm.’...............
2 seconds later...
“BUT THESE FUCKING LIBTARD COMMIES ARE GONNA KILL US WITH CHINA VIRUS!”
