Why? Campaign rallies are pretty pointless and a waste. Trump is really regretting his Tulsa appearance.

Thankfully, we'll have a lot less campaign rallies this year.

Except those digital spaces are the new "town square", but go ahead with whatever mental gymnastics you need to justify your ideology. :coffee:
So you’re now agreeing with making them a utility? Somewhere in the Seattle area is a smug prick smiling at this.

Make social media providers a public utility? Really?

The smug prick has always talked about making the ISP providers public utilities, not Facebook, Twitter, etc. :ohno:

They will shield Biden and let Trump run his mouth. I don’t care for Rice either but I don’t see Trumps numbers improving anymore than Biden’s cognitive abilities. Things are not going to suddenly improve and even though that’s not all Trump’s fault, I don’t see independent voters swinging his direction.

Agree on a third party making headway.
 They can't shield Biden..
-Biden campaign just agreed to 3 general election debates.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden- ... ion-debate
-Biden has not done a press conference in 82 days, which he will eventually have to do (interviews with hand picked journalists & questions & ground rules don't count).
-Biden will have to come out of his basement and campaign. That's typically 80-100 hr weeks for a couple months straight.

Biden's liable to brag how he picked for VP 'a colored woman who's clean and articulate' and similar comments..
That’s why (like I’ve said in other threads) you’ll see Biden pick a moderate who will then become the candidate.

  you talk to Trump a lot to know what he’s “regretting”?

And yeah, we’ll have a lot less, if only because the DNC won’t let Biden out of his cellar if at all possible.

When a country is as gangrenous as the United States, the rot tends to spread through its entire system sooner or later. So long as the Republican Party is not comprehensively defeated politically, and the Democrats do their utmost to avoid governing, it would be extremely foolish to rely in any way on American institutions.

Interesting article on the Decline of America
I’m kind of familiar with Cooper’s work. He dislikes establishment Democrats almost as much as he does Republicans. He’s chortling because Elliot Engel, the House Foreign Affairs Committee chair, lost his primary this week to a black male clone of AOC.

I count my blessings in living in the most open, least discriminatory society on the face of the earth. It is the society that allows for more success and prosperity than any other.

The exception to this are those who use government support for their sole or primary financial support for more than short term needs, condemning them to life on the gubment plantation.

Couple this with single parent families, which the well meaning but poorly designed and executed aid to dependent children program encourages and multi-generation gubment dependency taking away all drive and ambition, failed gubment schools in the most vulnerable areas and we get the desperation that is showing up today.

Don't get me wrong, it is not primarily the fault of those receiving aid, but those designing the aid and administering the aid to provide a permanent base of political support to keep themselves in power that are the major problem. Programs need to be designed to encourage peaceful and productive behaviors, not destructive ones as is currently the case.

While things are far from perfect here, focusing on them shows a lack of awareness of how things are in other countries and human history. Those who have been denied the study of history and given a skewed view of the world are victims of a conspiracy by the press, leftist politicians and intelligentsia who think of themselves as elite.

4.8 million jobs added. Question. As I understand it, the economy is supposed to have three months of downward data to claim a recession. We only had two months before it started back positive, but why are they still calling it a recession?

I think it's 2 quarters of negative GDP growth for it to technically be a recession.

May sees biggest jobs increase ever of 2.5 million as economy starts to recover from coronavirus
Employment stunningly rose by 2.5 million in May and the jobless rate declined to 13.3%, according to data Friday from the Labor Department that was far better than economists had been expecting and indicated that an economic turnaround could be close at hand.

Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been expecting payrolls to drop by 8.33 million and the unemployment rate to rise to 19.5% from April’s 14.7%. If Wall Street expectations had been accurate, it would have been the worst figure since the Great Depression.

As it turned out, May’s numbers showed the U.S. may well be on the road to recovery after its fastest plunge in history.
:thumb:
After biggest job increase ever in May, June’s job increase is BIGGEST EVER AGAIN, blowing May out of the water.

U.S. economy adds 4.8 million jobs in June, vs expected increase of 2.9 million

Before anyone says “The amphitheater isn’t totally full”
Protesters block road leading to Mount Rushmore ahead of Trump event, approximately 15 arrested
Demonstrators blocked road with vans and removed wheels from vehicles

About 15 protesters were arrested Friday after they blocked an access road to Mount Rushmore hours before President Trump was scheduled to give remarks to kick off Independence Day weekend....

.... One group parked three vans across the road and removed the tires from two of the vehicles to make it more difficult to remove them. Several demonstrators climbed on top of the vans chanting “Land back!”

The sheriff’s office said attendees had been told to arrive early and should have been past the roadblock by the time the standoff began. However, the Rapid City Journal reported that some motorists who had tickets for Friday evening's fireworks show were unable to get through the protests and were standing by their cars watching the standoff.

The Journal also reported that law enforcement in riot gear as well as members of the National Guard had declared an unlawful assembly.
Police later used pepper spray on several protesters to break up the standoff and tow trucks were brought in to remove the vans blocking the road. Arrests were made after protesters ignored a police-imposed deadline to leave.
