Yeah. I’m certain that’s why he wore it on camera and then took it off when he thought he was off camera. I’m sure that’s it.
Fauci is becoming a legend in his own mind. He’s enjoying the celebrityness of it all. In an administration full of celebs, he fits right in. Pretty heady stuff for an Italian boy from Holy Cross.

Prior to throwing that girl pitch, he got the ball from someone and interacted with them. Then he left the mask on for the same reason I leave mine on when I get in the car after walking out of the grocery store... because I forget to take the damn thing off

When I’m isolated away from the general public and with family, then I take it off.

In the seats, outdoors, he should be ok according to DC mask mandate

Now that’s a good point -

I see nothing wrong with how Fauci wore his mask on the mound but not in the stands

But attending the game while literally nobody else is allowed was a bad look

I think you are completely incorrect. For one discussion illustrating that, see https://www.ucsf.edu/news/2020/06/41790 ... ks-prevent.

But, really, common sense should tell you that if everybody covers their mouths and noses it is going to reduce transmission rates if all other things are equal. The only real argument for saying it wouldn't have a positive effect is arguing that it would change behavior. The idea is that people wearing masks are not as careful as those who aren't so that negates the effect of a least partially blocking discharge of droplets and aerosols. It is very reasonable to believe that if they could get everybody to assume they are infected and therefore wear masks as necessary to reduce odds of transmission to others they would lower the overall transmission rate.

As for Fauci with his mask down: He was drinking a bottle of water because he felt dehydrated. He was close to two people in his personal circle; one of whom is his wife. Nobody else was around. It's hard to drink a bottle of water without pulling the mask down.

And as for the "ridiculous fear" thing: A 91 year old woman and a person with diabetes live in my house. I absolutely can NOT afford to become infected. I wear a mask as a courtesy to other people, and I wish everybody else that does something like go to the grocery store would wear a mask as a courtesy to me and others like me. And I am sure there are a lot of others like me. There are an awful lot of people who may not feel like it is a threat to them personally but who regularly have to interact with people who are in very high risk groups.

The "anti mask" thing is very, very selfish. It really is.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Mask don't solve everything, but combined with social distancing, voting should not be a problem.
