Meanwhile Trump is the reason Republicans win but not the reason they lose? If he had to "drag him across the finish line" why spend your political capital on him? :suspicious: :suspicious:

That's like when football players thank Jesus when they score a TD but not when they fumble the ball. :coffee:

For being an atheist you sure post a lot about Jesus.

So good news from the Old Dominion state, but a few things passed today:

1. Automatic-voter registration.
2. State-district maps now drawn by a bipartisan commission made up of lawmakers and citizens.
3. Removal of all abortion restrictions.
4. Mandatory background checks and limits on firearm purchases.

This on top of some previous measures which have passed (clean energy act, signing the ERA, expanded LGBTQ protections, raising gas tax, tightening pay-day loan regulations, banning handheld devices while driving, increasing the reckless driving threshold from 80mph to 85mph).

Creating a state-wide health insurance exchange and the decriminalization of marijuana is up next.

Why is infringing upon the Bill of Rights good news? Seems a shame that a formerly great state has been lost to a small patch with a lot of idiots in it. Bloomberg did a good job buying those votes. He played Virginia like a fiddle.

93, You are acting like a Boomer. Why are you so hyper focused on a 250 yr old piece of arbitrary parchment? We don't have to follow what it says if we decide not to. You have to remember that this was all written by people so long ago that almost all of it doesn't apply to what the world looks like now! 1. Automatic-voter registration. As long as it is based on reasonable criteria, great. It will increase the jury pool and the criminals will get more of their peers.
2. State-district maps now drawn by a bipartisan commission made up of lawmakers and citizens. When was the last time you saw something that was "nonpartisan"? Of the ones you name, how long did it stay that way?
3. Removal of all abortion restrictions. 89 will go ape shit over this. I'll just sit back and wait.
4. Mandatory background checks and limits on firearm purchases. Pretty sure we have background checks everywhere already in place. Limits? Nope. We can't do that one.
clean energy act. Need more details
signing the ERA Need more details
expanded LGBTQ protections I'd like more details
raising gas tax I'm open to arguments on this one
tightening pay-day loan regulations Let's face facts. this is a type of company that makes great profit margins on only one group of people. The poorest. It's predatory. On the other hand if it wasn't readily available, what would they do to feed their kids on a bad week? Is it necessary at the same time?
banning handheld devices while driving About fucking time. How many videos have you seen of people wanking into cars or falling down stairs looking for Poke-mans? we can't do both.
increasing the reckless driving threshold from 80mph to 85mph Good call with the speed limit only being 10 below that
Creating a state-wide health insurance exchange Details again
decriminalization of marijuana is up next. Fine

Yep. The only bit of good news is some of the anti 2A measures were watered down from what was 1st proposed, and they didn’t pass what were probably the biggest thing- a ban on scary looking black rifles and mags over 12 rounds. There’s still a few rural donks (not many) in the state that didn’t vote for that.

All hands on deck for the donks to keep from losing their first California House seat in 20 years. Trump and the proggies will both be chirping if they lose this one.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — The governing body of northern Virginia’s largest city has voted unanimously to ban firearms on all public property.

The Alexandria City Council voted unanimously for the ordinance after a public hearing Saturday. The new law takes effect July 1 and bars firearms and ammunition from all city facilities and parks.
