A very small few could actually afford healthcare.

Outside of their employers benefits for sure. After Obamacare hit, out of pocket expenses skyrocketed for many of the people with employer benefits.

So they're starting to understand what it's like for people like me who've gone without employer benefits the entire way?

BTW, healthcare should not be an employer responsibility.

Healthcare is a benefit, not a responsibility, from an employer.

So let's make it tough on everyone, instead of assisting the one's that need assistance.

Obamacare levied a tax for not providing that benefit. The entire system has been based on the assumption that employers should provide it. That also skewed the cost awareness.

No matter what we do-

the old way with private insurance and MedicaXX

The hybrid Obamacare way

or single payer

Two systems will evolve (as existed under the old insurance model)

The only thing that will change is the cutoff line between us schmucks and the people who can afford to go it alone

In a capitalist system, salaries, location, job description, etc being similar, the company with the best benefits, in most cases, gets their pick of the best workers.

Agreed. If a company wants to pay for employee healthcare it should be free to do so but government shouldn't coerce employers into doing so.

Women in office.. Collins from Maine has at least been consistent- she voted against the repeal without replace bill in 2015 that Obama vetoed, and has said she won't support the same bill now.

But Capito from WV and Murkowski from AK have shown themselves to be total frauds by voting for the 2015 bill but not voting for the same bill 18 months later. The only explanation they've given is they can't support the bill because blah, blah, blah..But they have failed to answer so far why they voted for the bill before voting against it, which they should be pressed on. Easier for them to flip flop since neither is up for primary challenges & re election in 2018..

A large percentage of Capito's constitutes finally have health insurance thanks to Obamacare. Ironically, they didn't even realize that until they elected Trump and he started trying to take it away.

I think there's still a nice hobo camp under the Reserve Street bridge. Within stumbling distance of the Bayern brewery. :thumb:

Trump campaigned on not messing with entitlements like Medicaid

I don't think most people realize how big a drag on the economy having healthcare tied to your employer is.

I didn't 1st hear it from Rush, but off of Drudge. Murkowski & Capito were the the 1st 2 of the 48 conk senators in office now, who voted for repeal in 2015, to openly state they wouldn't vote for (what is almost the same bill) now 18 months later. I'm sure they wouldn't have been the only 2 as the Hotair article indicates. There's a lot more than 2 hypocrites among those 48 conk senators, and Trump too on this issue..

If they don't want to be seen as hypocrites by their base, they should come out and explain why they voted for the repeal in 2015, and won't vote for what is essentially the same bill now..

Like I said ealier in this thread:
BDKJMU wrote: Yep, best thing the conks could do is to continue to let the donks own Obamacare and let it collapse on its own- which it will do.

Worst thing conks could do is pass some so called "fix" or "repeal" or whatever they are calling that turd they are working on in the Senate, which may extend the life of the turd by another decade or 2, giving the left plenty of time to spin the fairy tale of how the Republicans 'ruined Obamacare'..

That is because they were free to vote no when there was no chance it would be signed by Obama - empty gestures that had no need to examine the reality of what repeal would do to their states.

And maybe the Turtle should have included a woman or two on his secret committee to write the bill.
