He said the appointment of a special counsel "knocks Congress out of the game for all practical purposes."

"Now I think the public will be one of the biggest losers of this decision," said Graham, explaining that public hearings with Comey or other figures are now unlikely. "

Investigators on the House intelligence committees have obtained access to valuable data from the Treasury Department, a development that will open their doors to investigate possible connections between President Donald Trump's business empire and Russians, CNN has learned.

Investigators received access to the financial data this week, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the development.

I think it is going to slow things waaaay down.

Also, no public hearings. Comey and others will testify behind closed doors. And all Congressional inquiries come to a halt.

And yes, I think Flynn goes down for Russia and Turkey payments. Maybe one or two other Trump surrogates, but that is as far as it goes in terms of the Russia connection.

But as Bill Clinton knows, these things have no boundaries, so the investigation can go down any avenue.
