Oregon QB transfers, FCS likely destination
Roper explains decision to transfer

If Justin Roper is to have a future in the NFL, he believes a change of scenery would help. With his collegiate clock ticking, quarterback Justin Roper took a hard look at Oregon's system, the Ducks' depth chart and the U.S. map and decided it was time to move on.
Oregon coach Chip Kelly announced Saturday that Roper, a 6-foot-6 pure passer who was second on his depth chart, had decided to transfer. On Tuesday, fresh off a relaxing camping trip, Roper elaborated on the when and the why, although he has no idea about the where just yet

Roper, ideally, wants to move back nearer his family in Georgia, but much of that depends on where a scholarship offer comes from. With either one or two years of eligibility remaining - depending on whether he stays or moves down a level - he's not in position to be picky.
"Who's going to be willing to give me a scholarship for one year?'' Roper said. "I'm not ruling out any (Football Championship Subdivision, formerly known as Division I-AA) schools. I'm open to anything.''

Also, rumors swirling in Portland that one of the Ducks more reliable receivers in the past couple years, Robin Pflugrad may be coming to Portland State. Pflugrad left the Ducks after the spring game this month. Pflugrad's dad played for Mouse Davis at PSU in the 70's and Davis is now the Vikings OC.

Robin Pflugrad will likely be a coach at Montana this fall.. his son Aaron will likely follow. Robin is no longer a Duck asst coach.JALMOND wrote:Also, rumors swirling in Portland that one of the Ducks more reliable receivers in the past couple years, Robin Pflugrad may be coming to Portland State. Coach hatcher does like the pass game, but I doubt we have room for this kid. I am not sure Hatch would want him after our last transfer QB debacle.dbackjon wrote:Roper explains decision to transfer

I was gonna say that the Pflugrad thing has been swirling for some time now. Be interesting to see if he reuturns to coach here.
Re: Oregon QB transfers, FCS likely destination
Robin wasn't particpating in spring ball for nothing. He can't be announced until his UO contract expires next month. With his previous tenure here under Read, he is on a short list of eventual BH replacement candidates. So does son want to go to PSU where they fill the air with footballs and go 3-8 or to UM where the offense is balanced and they go 14-2? We'll just have to see.Ursus A. I can't imagine him wanting to head out into the wilds of Montana. As for PSU, we have a passle of good receivers this year - don't see us offering.

He spent a portion of his life here already so I'm sure he knows what to expect.frinq wrote:I can't imagine him wanting to head out into the wilds of Montana. As for PSU, we have a passle of good receivers this year - don't see us offering.

QB Chris Harper also just left to return back to his home state of Kansas and play for the Wildcats.
I say Pflugrad is likely to go to Montana - that would make up for him leaving. Wherever he is headed he will be clutch. He reminds me of Wes Welker. IMO Oregon's biggest loss this offseason.
