I don't hate religion either and pretty much agree with everything Ibanez and G8 have said. So swing and a miss for you. :ohno:

I do think it's healthy to challenge religion though.

This article singled out two faiths but you do realize there are other churches/beliefs that are able to accomplish everything you mentioned without as much of the negative, right? If it's just an attack on religion, why don't you see them getting called out as much?

Oh please. You disguise your dislike of religion but threads like this and many others are the reveal. Just because you don't act and say things like D1B, doesn't make you any different.

What negativity are you talking about?

You don't hear about Unitarians committing acts of violence or threatening others rights these days do ya?

And what do you find offensive about this article? Please elaborate. I 'm genuinely interested.

I like religion. It's fascinating.

Sorry, I only read Sticky and G8 in the original post, but I'd still keep my sentence as is. 8-)

Assuming I'm included with the religion haters... but, I'm definitely a Christian as preached by Richard Rohr, Cynthia Bourgeault, Anne Lamott, Thomas Keating, Marcus Borg, Thomas Merton, etc.

Fucking bullshit.

Heinous acts!?!?! How bout child abuse? Not the sexual abuse your church leaders like so much - the "vast majority of religious people" like you who abuse their own children by forcing them to participate in cults, like the Catholic Church?

Parents who force their children under the threat of punishment to attend mass and other cult ceremonies against their will. Parents who willingly allow their children to be unattended with a known class of pedophiles and sexual deviants.

Wake up, Dick head, these are heinous acts.

Wait a minute. You're a Christian as it's preached by a Franciscan, a 2 Trappists monks, a "progressive" social and from what I can tell a theologian and a "spiritual leader"?

Jesus....which end is up?

Holy broadness, batman, talk about swinging for the fences with that one. If we're going to now keep kids away from any class of people who have abused children well have to construct individual bubbles. I mean, pedophiles and sexual deviants have been found in the clergy, school teachers, sports coaches, next-door neighbors, postal service workers, the Subway dude, other kids, Charlie Sheen, the Republican party, families in Utah, British film actors, the Democratic party, NFL players, Northern Iowa fans, police officers, firemen, etc, etc, etc. That's a lot of classes of people right there. :coffee:
