They haven't made the playoffs since 2006. Why do they get ranked the same every year?

Because they play in that there gauntlet known as the MVFC.

I seem to remember no such luck for the Big Sky when it was "just" Montana, like the MVFC is just NDSU.

And that is why YSU gets ranked every year since 2006 and still misses the playoffs?
