Re: THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE
The bottom of the Big East this year may be abysmal. I can see Depaul, Creighton, and St. Johns becoming shitshows. Seton Hall may also fall into that category if Whitehead doesn't improve.

Re: THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE
What is that a list of?
Creighton is shit right now. Would finish behind WSU, UNI, ISU, ISU, Loyola and Evansville fir sure last year and this year.
They would have been the same without Doug his 3 years in the MVC. sCUm got completely bailed out when Greg stole Doug out of his LOI to UNI.
But BE fans are delusional enough to believe they are actually that much better than the MVC....

So has every coach since St John's was actually good back in the early 80's. St John's may have a year or two here or there where they are good, but most of the time they're going to stink. St John's is not a good basketball program, it hasn't been one for decades now, and that's not going to change anytime soon.vutomcat wrote:Chris Mullin will have his hands full resurrecting the Johnnies.

It's not what they're bringing back so much as what they're bringing in. Three five star recruits and a four star.

A completely new team worked last year, didn't in 2013.vutomcat wrote:It's not what they're bringing back so much as what they're bringing in. Three five star recruits and a four star.
Will be interesting to see how this year's edition meshes.

Wasn't completely new last year. That's part of the reason why they were so dominant. Their second team would have been starters on most other first teams.dbackjon wrote:A completely new team worked last year, didn't in 2013.vutomcat wrote:It's not what they're bringing back so much as what they're bringing in. Re: THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE
Well that was a sunny article. I think we'll need clenz's perspective since he can speak for the Creighton side of things since the article says Creighton is "... pretty underrated across the board". As great as last season was, the Big East was 5-6 in the NCAA tournament, with no team advancing to the Elite Eight, despite getting 6 teams in and getting very favorable seeds. So two years in a row the Big East has had awful (2013-14 season) and bad (2014-15 season) NCAA tournaments. That's where the true measure comes into play and the conference is coming up woefully short. The article says the new Big East is capable of producing "Final Four-quality teams". I think they'd settle for getting even one team into the Elite Eight. Baby steps.

Word out of Nova is the Cats beat Maryland in a secret scrimmage at the Pavilion over the weekend. I'll need to check the Maryland site out to see if they are claiming victory as well.

Re: THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE
I agree completely. Being specific to Nova though, the past few successful seasons (albeit not the main tourney) has finally brought potential one and dones to Nova. They have one this year and another one coming in next year, so at least from that perspective, baby steps is correct.GannonFan wrote:Well that was a sunny article. Re: THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE
Gotta love Gonzaga. Mark Few is a sure fire HOF coach. Year after year he keeps reloading out there to a place that was pretty much off the map before he got there. Granted, Monson was the head coach when they first burst onto the scene, but seeing Few's trajectory since then versus Monson and Few looks even better.vutomcat wrote:2015-16 AP Preseason Poll

Off to Wells Fargo center for an exhibition against Pace university. Basketball season should be fun again this year. Football has only a faint glimmer of hope left. Wins against Richmond and JMU seem too much to ask.
