Trying to figure out what's going on with sportswriters. Perhaps they mean what they think will PROBABLY happen, but when your actual words indicate what actually is, there's something wrong.
Saw an article today referring to "former" 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Sure, the consensus is that he's PROBABLY gone, but we thought that LAST year, too, and it didn't happen. Garoppolo is currently listed as the 49ers starting quarterback on their three-deep (backed up by Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson, with Trey Lance on IR).
New rumors are out that Houston (due to the influence of new HC Demecco Ryans) will make a play for Garoppolo. His name has also been linked to the Raiders. But until he's traded or released, PLEASE don't talk in the present about mere possibilities. You'll look just as much a fool as people looked last year. And that's particularly true given that Garoppolo isn't the quitter that Derek Carr is. SMH....

Man, I wish I could be Cowboys GM today. I'm making some huge free agent signings AND moving up to #1 in the draft to dramatically shake up the QB room. When I'm done, the depth chart will look like THIS:
1. #11 Danny White, QB-P
2. #1 McLeod Bethel-Thompson, QB (Currently with the New Orleans Breakers)
3. #10 Asher O'Hara, QB (#1 pick in the draft)

Believe me, no cowboy-hater would get in the way of you making these moves.

What, you have a problem with a Super Bowl Champion, a Grey Cup Champion, and an NCAA playoff quarterback?

Nah, by Christmas Day evening people are out and about. It's the biggest movie night of the year for Jews for instance. Now, schedule it Christmas morning, and that's just crazy.
Wonder what this will do to the NBA, who normally likes to have Christmas Day as their big 5 games back to back.

He's not happy they scheduled a game in Philly on Christmas because he's worried about being pelted with snowballs.

What a deal for Dan Snyder. Buy for $750 million. Run the team into the ground. Sell for $6.05 billion. And they say you can't get ahead in America!

And TB12 is reportedly buying a minority stake in the Raiders. That sounds like it completely shuts the door on his coming back...at least until after this season. Under league rules, you can't own one team and play for another, while you CAN play for a team you own...but that requires a 3/4 vote of current team majority owners, and you know THAT ain't going to happen for a guy the calibre of TB12....

Roger Goodell has ruined football with his stupid rule changes. What would YOU guys say about changing everything back and THEN improving safety by reverting to one-platoon football? Can you imagine a quarterback head-hunting a receiver while playing defense? NOT going to happen. You get guys playing both ways again, the safety factor will even out....

I'm seeing reports that Jimmy G has failed his physical, and has therefore seen some major reductions to his contract. People are freaking out about that, even though doctors are expecting him to be ready for Opening Day. Some guys are even setting odds on new Raiders owner Tom Brady starting Week One. Just one major problem with that: either he'd have to rescind his ownership status, or he'd have to submit to a league-wide owner's vote on whether or not to allow him to play for the Raiders. As I noted above, the odds of 3/4 of the ownership signing off on THAT isn't going to happen. Why can't people let this talk die?
