Or just eliminate the wild card round all together

Let em play a 7 game series too
MLB likes more teams playing meaningful games down the stretch. The only way to do that is to have more playoff spots. Just recognize that if you eliminate any number of wild card teams, then you have less interest in baseball overall in July, August, and September once teams are no longer realistically in contention. I know if JoltinJoe was here he'd be saying we should go back to not even having a league championship round and that the regular season NL champ should play the regular season AL champ in a 7 game World Series and that should be the only playoff baseball. It's an opinion, just not a widely shared one. Regardless, everyone knows when Spring Training opens what the playoff format is. Complaining about it only once you get knocked out is pretty weak.
Nobody cares about the 3 team wildcard race, MLB gets a lot of stuff wrong … they might as well make it like The NCAA tourney…. One and done but everybody gets in

It’s just disproportional having 162 going into a 3 out of 5

Of course people care about the 6 team wildcard race (remember there are two leagues). That's 6 teams where before you wouldn't have had any. That's 20% of the league right there, and doesn't include the additional 1-4 teams who end up being on the outside of the wildcard race at the end.

As for the 3 out of 5, well for one, it starts with a best 2 out of 3, and then goes to the 3 out of 5. But what's magical about a 4 out of 7? Some in the past were 5 out of 9, or 7 out of 13. MLB is on an upswing in interest - the much maligned pitch clock did exactly what it was intended to do, shorten the game and make it much more interesting to the casual fan. MLB is doing pretty well considering.

Florida fans don't care about anything except maybe college football. Hence why Marlins and Rays are always near the bottom of MLB attendance. The Dolphins are notorious for empty seats, just like the Jags and Bucs are as well. And even for college football, it's only when they're winning. You can't use Florida for any real good measure.

Who cares? Just as arbitrary as you saying a best 3 out of 5 after 162 games isn't the right setup.

Wouldn’t be against a 5 of 9 with less teams in

Good to see the series tighten up, but I'm hoping for a chance to go to a Rangers World Series game.

He was !
My friend that works for the Dodgers, says by the time he played for LA, he was the worst player on the team, maybe ever, his words. That was age 31, same age Mays hit 49 homers, drove in 141 runs, and won another gold glove. Mays would hit 51 homers at 34, and was voted MVP, and another gold glove. Mays would win 3 more gold gloves after that. Jones last gold glove was age 30.
You mentioned several in the media were saying Jones was a better fielder than Mays, and he was. He was a spectacular Center fielder. He flamed out early.

I never said Jones should be in the HOF

Congrats to Jim! Probably smoked 3 packs of cigarettes since the announcement. Met him at a spring game in Lakeland. We took a friends son to his first baseball game, and Leyland signed his glove.
