There are eight other teams with precision engineering

Maybe nine some day if Haas gets right.
True. I am also German, so slightly biased.

And that is all I got.
Well, I'm British according to Ancestry, and since pretty much every team except Ferrari (wops), AlphaTauri (wops), Alpha Romeo (swiss), and Haas (American sort of; they still have a shop in England for in-season) is in England, I can pick and choose from six teams. :king:

I chose Mercedes, since they're the closest thing to a BMW or VW. I used to love the Audi R10 TDI Le Mans car.

Can't I be a fan of precision engineering without liking their main driver?

Watching Le Mans was how I got started watching F1.

HAAS needs to enjoy being in 3rd for now. We know it's only the first race but did ANYONE expect HAAS to perform like they did?

Three things in their favor in the first race:

1. They use Ferrari power units.
2. They don't use Mercedes power units (many of the also-ran teams behind them in this race did: McClaren, Aston Martin, Williams).
3. Everyone who finished behind Sainz was two positions higher than they would have been had Red Bull not imploded in the final five laps.

Haas will return to their normal form once Red Bull and Mercedes sort their issues, which they will. Quickly.

Right now it's damage control mode for Mercedes and Red Bull. They both need to keep a driver within about 50 points of Leclerc by the summer break after Hungary, or it's over.

RB should be able to figure out the fuel pump issue (or whatever it was that prevented fuel from the tank going to the engine) before Saudi Arabia but if not...i'm happy with a team not called Mercedes or Red Bull dominating. It's a nice change and I hope that whenever Merc and RB come back, Ferrari remains very competitive.

Saw a vid saying it was likely vapor lock or an issue with the fuel mix when the fuel tank go low. The fuel pumps are not custom made by each team under the new specs and as no one else had this issue, that explanation makes sense.

FP2 in Saudi Arabia halted briefly due to a Houthi missile attack on an oil depot outside the circuit:

Entertaining F1 race. Checo got unlucky with the safety car, and lots of good battles all around. But like 93 said, Ferrari probably runs away with it this season. Also Haas scored some points again.

Safety Car also messed with Le Clerc but I don't think he would've been able to catch up. Max's radio comment how Le Clerc catching up to him being unfair goes to show what a diva that guy is.

Yeah he needed to just shut up and drive. Also the bitching about possibly crossing the pit lane line. FFS just drive bro.

The subject of the Ferrari and Haas alliance has been brought back into focus following Haas’ excellent start to the season.

Having been the perennial back-marker last season, Guenther Steiner’s team is now consistently challenging for points and appears to have more straight line speed than Mercedes.

Given this step up in performance, which occurred in parallel with Ferrari’s own improvement, questions have again been raised about how much information is shared between the two teams especially with the similarity between the cars’ design.

it was only a matter of time before teams started getting the FIA to dig into Haas for actually performing. I hope Haas continues to to surpass expectations.

From what I've listened to on various YT vids on F1 when this topic came up, this relationship is legal. They farm out enough parts from others (I think the chassis) that makes this work. Personally I think it's a good move by Haas, so long as it's legal. Also they benefitted from the recent F1 restructuring in which the weaker teams are allotted more time/budget for wind tunnels/testing/etc.

Haas doing well gives me a reason to cheer for them again...that and the comeback story around K-Mag.

Not sure why RB would care, I could see McLaren being unhappy about it. They've sucked a bag of dicks so far this season.

Verstappen won this morning. I was happy to see Hamilton get caught in a tete-a-tete in the pit exit lane, causing him to drop from 10th to 14th. Hamilton finished 13th to continue a downer season for him. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Hamilton's car is shit. The big story of the race was LeClerc shitting the bed. They went for the fastest lap and instead of challenging for 2nd and ended 6th after a spin out (lucky he didn't crash out with a DNF). Still I think the title is his to lose. The Constructors race will be tight.

Haas had a crap race too. Not sure why K-Mag went with mediums instead of softs in the sprint. They could have had a top 5 finish if they didn't blow it in the sprint.

Hamilton's car is shit.
It sure is, and for a team with the resources that Mercedes has, it's inexcusable to be putting a car that bad on the track.

Watching Hamilton's (and Russell's) helmets bouncing the entire length of every straight once the car is up to speed looks downright painful. It's amazing they're able to physically finish races.

MB-AMG (and I) can turn the focus to 2023 now. They are toast.

Why not? Horner and most principles will try to call out another team for something. They'll do anything to gain an advantage.

The Merc is crap but Hamilton is a damn good driver. It has to absolutely gut Hamilton that he's doing to poorly.

There are dozens of examples, but there was one turn that Hamilton came out of and it looked like the back of the the car just bounced around the curve. That's got to be scary.

SD: The way you describe LeClerk's race seems to fit the article title I saw about Tony Romo at the latest celebrity golf tournament. Apparently, Romo "fumbled" it away. That's a perfect description of his entire NFL career. ROFL....
