You can take the guy out of Serbia but you can't take the Serbian out of the guy. Serbs have been taking cheap shots since 1914.

Jokic is dirty and Morris is stupid for giving Jokic a cheap shove and then turning his back on him. Anyone with sense knows that you have to be ready to get what you give. Morris wasn't and he ended up getting more than he gave.

And Janie Buckets going off was yugely entertaining. He's a diva.

TNT’s Barkley, O’Neal and ESPN analysts blame Heat for Jokic incident.
“People say, ‘he hit me in the back.’ If you hit me, you better not turn your damn back because I’m coming back at you. You can’t hit somebody and turn your back. What about what Morris did was a basketball play? Zero. We all love Spo. He’s going to defend his guy. There was nothing basketball related what he did to Joker.”

Huge game tonight
Man, 16 straight wins, this early in the season, and still not in 1st place. And Golden State hasn't even gotten Klay Thompson back. Everyone is playing for second place this year it seems, barring injuries.

Geez, it's about time, and right before November ended. They probably stole the title of best team in November 2021 last night from Golden State. When do they get to raise that banner? :coffee:

Could be a heating up of things to trade for Ben Simmons. New guy might be okay with departing with McCollum and more 1st round picks than the other guy. Lillard's got to be getting a little feisty at this point.

I still don't understand why they didn't fire him after last season and let the new guy pick his coach.

The reason is that Olshey sold it to management that Stotts was the sole reason why the Blazers flamed out in the playoffs. Also, the current team performance had nothing to do with the firing. It was solely the hostile workplace and culture that Olshey created that led to his firing.

Ownership should fire themselves if they bought that story from Olshey. The roster has been flawed for a long time and Stotts actually got a lot out of it.

McCollum was kind of a mysterious scratch last night against the Clippers. He was listed as "probable" all day until right before gametime when he was downgraded to "doubtful", then he sat in street clothes the whole game. Blazers may be rudderless right now, but something may be getting ready to happen.

Portland's going nowhere and it will only get worse through the month, if not longer. Sixers are fine at the moment, but long term need the extra body. They don't play each other any more this year so that's helpful. Portland front office being in flux could be helpful here, as the prior group may have just been trying to hold on and didn't want to do anything significant - might have more appetite for it now. I think Morey will come down from what was reportedly offered and refused before, but it will be CJ and a first round or more for Simmons and maybe a throw-in guy (but not Maxey anymore, he's played himself out of being traded - Sixers might have a gem there).

I don't usually pay attention to tweets and social media from players, but it was interesting yesterday. Lillard messaging that he wants to play with Simmons, and then Simmons "liking" it. Then the situation with McCollum last night before the game, then McCollum sending a message to the Blazers beat reporter, basically saying how he has enjoyed his time in Portland and will always remember his playing days. The reporter actually asked him if he'd been traded, and McCollum responded with "I'm still here". Link below, subscription required.

Whether it is for Simmons or not, I'm thinking something is in the works involving McCollum.
