Figured with the Daytona 500 being tomorrow, I'll start off the 2021 thread.

01/21: WRC started with Rallye Monte Carlo.
02/14: NASCAR starts with Daytona 500.
02/26: Formula E starts with the Diriyah E-Prix
02/26: Supercars starts with the Mt. Panorama 500.
03/21: Formula 1 starts with Australian Grand Prix.
04/28: IndyCar starts with the Grand Prix of Alabama.

Can't wait for tomorrow, especially since the pandemic has me stuck inside. Probably gonna watch and follow a bit more racing in the next few weeks than I have in the last few years.

Why are you stuck inside? Plenty of things to do outside where you don't have to be around people.

I grew up going to dirt track races. Rarely go anymore. One of my little brothers is going to the race today. He has timeshares in Daytona for the races. I enjoy almost all the forms of motor racing. I do not enjoy the constant talking of the commentators, but that isn't confined to motor racing.

I go walking, hiking, and biking (less biking with the recent cold weather), but I'm still finding myself inside more than ever. I was barely ever home before the pandemic, and now I'm here 95% of the time.

Nice. Never been to a dirt track race, only autocross. Daytona 500, Indy 500, and US Grand Prix are on my bucket list.

(I've only been to Richmond and Dover).

Good thing there are plenty of other channels for you to watch. Try Hallmark.

Hopefully you saw that NASCAR is going to do a dirt race at Bristol this year.

Well that was pretty quick for the "big one"...

Been a rain delay for a few hours, doubt it'll restart tonight. Tweets showing at least two drivers going to get fast food. Here's Briscoe:

Only in NASCAR.

1st NASCAR I’d watched since NASCAR jumped on the full bended knee bandwagon last June, and had paid zero attention other than hearing Chase Elliott won the championship.
-I see they’re still going bended knee/SJW.
-One GLARING exception. I see Larson is with Hendrick. :suspicious: Last spring on iRacing, not knowing/forgetting he was live, Larson drops “You can't hear me? Hey, n*gger.” Gnassi terminates their relationship, all his sponsors drop him like a hot potato, NASCAR suspends him indefinitely. Now he‘s with the top Chevy team. :suspicious: Instead of “Fuck up/Move Up“, it was “Drop the N-word/Move Up.”

As far as the race:
-Wow I see Bowyer retired.
-Other than the beginning and end WAY too much boring single file. All the speed was on the high line.
-Still WAY too many commercials. Not doing side by side for all of them is inexcusable. :ohno:
-You can tell they’re still still doing the same shit- running extra laps under yellow to get more commerocials in. :ohno:
-At the end dropping the yellow with the leaders in turn 4 was horse shit. Liked seeing the older fat guy (see McDowell is 36) from a mid budget team win, and he likely would have if green/checkered, but let them race NASCAR.. :ohno:

Now I can go back to not caring about NASCAR. Maybe I‘ll watch that dirt race in Bristol I heard mentioned, just for the novelty. At least you wouldn’t have to worry about a 6 hour rain delay.

Formula E started today. It was a little tough catching it at work, but I read it was an exciting race:

Next race is tomorrow at 11:30am EST. I have something at noon, but I'm going to try to catch the start.

This has been one of the best starts to the Cup series in a while. In three races, it's had two first-time winners and a second-time winner. None of the races have been snooze fests either, especially the last two.

:suspicious: The Daytona was run with nobody watching because of a six hour rain delay. Yesterday I watched about 20 minutes with no lead change and nothing going on.

Didn’t wach, but I believe it was at Homestead. The only thing that made previous racea at Homestead exciting was that they were the championship race. Now that it’s no longer it just another boring 1.5 mile cookie cutter race a la Chicagoland, Kansas, etc. I assume Sunday’s was no different..

HAAS - the only American F1 team - revealed its 2021 livery this morning.

The Russian oligarch sponsorship isn't exactly subtle:

Coincidentally, the pit crew will be wearing Adidas tracksuits this season.

I got into F1 a few years ago. I feel as a 'Merican I should root for Haas...even more so since they're 40 miles up the road. I like Grosjean and it's a miracle he walked away last year from that crash.

I'm a McLaren fan.
