Woohoo. Western Hemisphere F1 swing with everything on the line this year. Should be three great races in USA, MEX, and BRA. Let's go, HAM. Get this 8th championship so I can root for RUS next year.

US Grand Prix sets all-time F1 attendance record with ~400,000 over the weekend, eclipsing previous record of ~351,000 at 2019 British GP.

Great race on Sunday. With attendance like this, it makes total sense for more Western Hemisphere and North American races. The audience is there.
Spoiler: show
My buddy said it was un-real. Such an awesome environment.

Also says Danny Ric is just like he appears on TV and Netflix - a goofy, genuinely nice guy. I think we already knew that.

Are they talking about two FI events in the USA next year?

Yes, COTA and Miami already on the 2022 schedule. Miami will be a lot like Sochi. It's not a street circuit or a purpose-built track, but rather a makeshift circuit set up in sports complex parking lots.

I'd love to see Watkins Glen or Long Beach back on the schedule (hell, even Laguna Seca, Road America, or Mid Ohio), but the F1 garage requirements would require stadium-equivalent investments in infrastructure.

Progress shots of the course-building at Miami. I won't be going. I looked at the pre-sale this morning and Ticketmaster wants $2,100 each for 3-day tickets at the s/f line. I paid $600 for the same in Canada in 2017. That's where we'll keep going.

Plus there's Mexico and Canada. 4 chances to see the race on this side of the globe (5 if you can afford to travel to Brazil)

Nah, it was a good race. The battle for the championship is must see tv. Checo being 3rd gave Max a huge assist with the undercut strategy. Lewis probably wins if he would have been able to get DRS in the last lap or 2. Then there was the battle between Ferrari and McLaren in the mid field. Wish the broadcast would have showed more of that though.

I have Brazil up there. But I haven't heard about them coming off the schedule. North America may be getting a 3rd race - Las Vegas.

One of my favorite moments this season is (Sochi, i think) when Bottas was told to let Hamilton pass and then proceeded to block him for about 4-5 laps. This was after it was announced Bottas was leaving - so what did he care?

Woot. F1 triple header: Mexico, Brazil, Qatar over the next three weekends.

Track is dusty AF in Mexico. Several cars off the track in P1. Apparently they don't have jet blowers in Mexico.

HAM and VER trading fastest times (surprise).

So Amy Grant was on the Kelly Clarkson Show this week, singing the update she did to Good For Me on the 30th Anniversary Heart in Motion album that came out a couple of months ago. She had a crazy story about the aftermath of the original release 30 years ago: the second verse starts out with, "You like to drive like Mario Andretti...I like it taking my time." He was still racing, so Amy was invited to the Indy 500, where Mario and two other Andrettis were racing. One had a piece come off his car and go into Amy's box, and one of the others had a horrific wreck. And Amy was never invited back to Indy. Cray-cray....

I've been on that island - '67 World's Fair - took a hovercraft out to it. I was 4, so don't remember much other than the ride.

You forgot to mention how absolutely unpleasant those French speaking Montrealers' are to deal with. They are such a joy!

In Montreal, they work with you. In Quebec City, they're liable to shank you if you start with English. If you just throw in a bonjour to start, they'll usually immediately realize you're a stupid American and switch to anglais.

If P2 and P3 are any indication, Red Bull is 0.5-0.7 seconds faster per lap than Mercedes at Mexico. It's not even close.

The curtain on Hamilton's decade plus reign of domination appears to be closing.

It never fails. Checo rolls out for Q1, the home crowd goes wild, and in the middle of peak ovation, Lance Stroll eats the wall.

F1 should make Stroll wear clown shoes even when he's outside of his car.

And go figure. This was flipped in qualifying. Mercedes front row lockout. The two championship contenders go off 2-3 with Max the better starter. Could be another fun first few turns. And will Bottas follow team orders later if he gets out to the early lead?

Brutal start strategy by Mercedes. Hell, even the Haas team strategist knew the right move would have been to send Bottas wide and have Hamilton come inside to nullify any challenge from Verstappen. They're pissing away this championship for Hamilton.

This will be flag to flag for VER, barring a mistake or failure.
