The new stadium is going to have a retractable roof, so fans don't have to sit in the Texas heat and watch a ballgame.

The old stadium is going to be used by an XFL team and soccer clubs.

Twins needed a retractable roof but went with open air. Rains everytime I've been there on a week night, games delayed or postponed. I've switched to only going to weekend games, can't handle getting home at 2am from a 7pm start baseball game. And then there are the snow days in the spring and cold in the fall.

100 mph pitching prospect, injury prone with the Twins.

I read some rumors saying the Phillies have expressed interest in Kris Bryant (no relation to Kobe). That would certainly pique my interest if it came to fruition.

How many World Series would the Phillies win with Kris Bryant in the next 15 years?

:tothehand:

I was never predicting Phillies championships. I'm only hoping for relevance at this point.

Tigers sign Cameron Maybin to a 1 year contract. Won't get them to the playoffs, or anywhere close, but a good move all the same.

Wander Franco, the Ray's 18 yr old phenom, is scheduled to make his Spring Training debut today. :thumb:

I got to see the kid play in a minor league game last summer and he hit the ball on nose every time up. He also looked very smooth at the SS position. He is easily the highest touted prospect to ever come up through the Rays organization and I'm excited to see what he can do at the big league level. If he is going to break into the bigs this year, however, he might have to transition to 2B as the Rays already have a good shortstop in Adames.

With the NCAA tournament and other events cancelled already, can we expect MLB to postpone opening day? Will Corona stop what WWII couldn't?

And the answer is a resounding yes. I checked the Tigers site just after posting the above and the news greeted me. :ohno:

A delay is good news for the Yankees. They have a lot of people injured at the moment.

Phils were actually having a somewhat decent Spring Training - sure it's all for naught now.

With spring high school and college baseball postponed or cancelled this year, I wonder how this will effect the MLB draft? Teams will miss an entire season of evaluation before making their choices.

MLB now discussing trying to salvage the full 162-game season by playing into November.

That’ll really juice those soft fall attendance numbers.

Listening to WIP in Philly, Al Morganti had a pretty good idea.

With the season potentially running into November or December, playoff and World Series games would have to move to neutral sites with playable conditions (southern or domed venues).

Why not hold the World Series in Japan?

No

OUR stadium workers and vendors, and the businesses outside of stadiums need the traffic. Japan will get their Olympics next year. No need to jump through hoops for them just because they got Pearl-Harbored by the virus.
