You must be one of the lucky few who doesn't have a Boston transplant nearby to constantly remind you.Ibanez wrote:Holy crap...I totally forgot they won it in 2007 and 2013.93henfan wrote:

Cardinals also won 4 in '34, '42, '44 and '46. They also won in 1931, giving them 5 in 16 years.93henfan wrote:Closest is 4. BoSox in the past 15 (2004, 2007, 2013, 2018). BoSox in the 19-teens (1912, 1915, 1916, 1918).89Hen wrote:Has anyone other than the Yankees won 5 WS in a 15 year span?
Trout pees in the Eagles' butts. He's a front row, end zone season ticket holder and Carson Wentz's hunting bestie.UNI88 wrote:Where is the Trout pees in Harper's butt option?

Yep. Good point. There's a reason so many athletes want to play in Florida.JoltinJoe wrote:Harper turned down more per year from San Francisco. Why? California's state tax rate.
Harper will net about $30 million more over the course of his deal by going to Philadelphia rather than signing with San Fran (so long as he doesn't decide to live in New Jersey, which I suspect he is smart enough to avoid).

Delaware has the lowest overall tax burden in the tri-state (PA-DE-NJ) area.93henfan wrote:Yep. Good point. There's a reason so many athletes want to play in Florida.JoltinJoe wrote:Harper turned down more per year from San Francisco. Why? California's state tax rate.

However, it was reported yesterday that Harper also turned down 4 years/$180M from the Dodgers.
I guess it was the allure of tranquil Philly that he couldn't resist.
On a serious note, the reality is Harper wanted to go to one team and win there for a long time. He's getting $330M guaranteed, and he's leaving the club with the room to get a Mike Trout or a stud pitching staff and to set up to win multiple championships in the next decade. Should be exciting to see if they can make it happen.

I'm sure he's referring to the Natspos, but it's kinda silly to lump them together (or any of the teams that moved AND got new owners at the same time). There is not a person in DC that cares about the Expos or any of their history. New town, new name, new owner... Nats are their own team, 13 years old.UNI88 wrote:Nationals - 50 years?93henfan wrote:Indians have won zero in their last 70 seasons.

That's what I thought but that would be like giving Cleveland credit for the Ravens' success.89Hen wrote:I'm sure he's referring to the Natspos, but it's kinda silly to lump them together (or any of the teams that moved AND got new owners at the same time).
