Detroit looks to be rebuilding, might be a long season. I like Gardy, hope he can do something with "Not Much" and an older Miggy.

Minnesota is still young and good, except Santana's surgery will keep him out until May.

Todd Frazier signed by the Mets. The "Thumb Down Guy" will now be rooting for him. :thumb:

Nats win the NL East, lose in the NLDS. You heard it here first.

Question: why did Santana not take care of this 2-3 months ago?

What does everyone think of all the FA still out there? Looks like the owners are waking up and realizing the back end of those are ugly.

The Cardinals made some progress in the off-season, but not enough. Thank god Cincy and Pittsburgh suck. Unfortunately, the Brewers and Cubs don't.

Twins are only going after 1 starting pitcher.

Twins are looking at Napoli and Napoli is recruiting Darvish. Sounds like Darvish has several $100 million offers.
Twins also like Archer in a trade with Tampa, if Tampa is willing to trade.
Tim Lincecum comeback is on the radar.

Twins went the rest and recuperation route with Santana. Passed the physical during Twinsfest weekend, started throwing fastballs, no problem, then started throwing slider and it went south. According to Doogie, this is why he is having surgery now.

Not sure what will happen with Sano when he recovers from his injury.

Any older pitcher is a risk, but the Phils had to take it. Only giving him 3 years is a bonus as well. Very good off-season for the Phils, now time to get around to winning some games.

Arrieta gets less, and Boras gets less.

Pro sports salaries never cease to amaze. I remember when Magic Johnson getting $1M/year was an eye opener in the mid 80s. Then A-Rod getting $25M/yr less than 20 years later.

Now $25M/yr is the going rate for a 30-something above average pitcher with declining numbers and health concerns.

ROCKTOBER!!!

The Rockies will be in the hunt. Excellent bullpen goes great with the maturing young starters. Offense is solid, if Cargo bounces back and Story has that break out season the offense could be very good, even on the road.

Gabe Kapler off to a terrific start with the Phillies. Chokes up a 5-0 lead and pulls his ace starter after only 68 pitches. Bullpen immolates. Hector Neris :pissed:

I want Mackanin back.

And Nola actually batted in the top of the inning before Kapler decided to pull him in the bottom of the inning while still pitching a 3 hit shutout with only 68 pitches. If you want to yank him that quickly why do you bat him in the top of the inning? It's only one game out of 162, but if Kapler is going to blow chunks like he did in that first game then it's a long season. Still just one game though.

That was unbelievable.

There were two lead-off home runs and two walk-off home runs yesterday.
