No. I think we established that teams with fan bases who support the squad get to keep their teams.
then quit suggesting the Coyotes move. If you want a team in Quebec City so bad, offer up yours.

But yes, moving one of the Florida teams first makes sense, certainly don't need two of them.

Give the new ownership a chance. Team was well supported before the ownership debacles happened.
I think we've had this discussion before, but I don't recall the issues. When was the team supported/not supported? A couple years ago when they made the conference finals, they were dead last in attendance.

As recently as 2005-06 The Coyotes outdrew teams like the Blackhawks, Capitals, Islanders, Devils and weren't too far behind the Penguins and the Bruins

2006-2007 Coyotes outdrew such "Hockey" city teams like Boston, Chicago, St. Louis, Washington

:suspicious: Holy half the story Batman. You mean 06-07 when the Coyotes were 24th in the league? That's their HIGH mark and those were low marks for the other teams you mention (except Islanders who have sucked for 20+ years).

They fill the place for playoff games, but only because people are trying to escape the searing April/May heat in AZ.

FTR, I'm not advocating the relocation of the Coyotes. Isles should have been the team this go round.

Last year, Phoenix finished last in average attendance and played to second lowest percentage capacity in the NHL. Only Florida had a lower percentage. It's all about what has happened lately. Both franchises are on thin ice -- pardon the pun.

A lot of that is a result of the ownership mess - fans didn't know if the team was going to be here this year. Give it a couple years to see if a stable ownership gets us back to the 15K level.

And that's even with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms opening up shop this year relatively near by, splitting the minor league hockey audience in the area. I think LV is getting close to 8k.

General rule of thumb, don't put sports franchises in Miami. :thumb:

Especially considering Florida is not horrible this year. They are midpack fighting for a playoff spot.

:notworthy:

1 Minnesota 11,553 (in a 10,000 seat arena)
2 North Dakota 11,338
3 Wisconsin 10,478

All drawing more than the Panthers. :suspicious:

People in the Upper Midwest like hockey more than Floridians?

Hence, why the NHL should move some of these teams.

Panthers attendance would go up if they were able to play at AmericanAirlines Arena instead of out in the middle of nowhere in Sunrise.

28 NY Islanders 12,076
29 Carolina 12.069
30 Arizona 10,946

Unfortunately, the wrong direction. Somebody stick a fork in them already.

Nope - new arena plans are in the works. Move it downtown, attendance will shoot up.

I went to the game last night with my nephew. For a seven pm start time, took over an hour to get there from south Scottsdale (I live two blocks from where the arena SHOULD have been built). Weeknight games are hard to get too in the current location.
