Have seen a lot of these car stickers lately...

But even though they are in MD, they are a DMV team. No way they ever drop the "Washington" part of the name.

Really? That's awesome. :thumb:

Pretty much sums up what America thinks of this issue. Out of sight, out of mind. Sad. :ohno:

Much like the Department of Motor Vehicles, you don't want to be there very long, and while you are it seems like a painful eternity.

Don't be dense, Hen (though I know that's your shtick). The money has to come from somewhere, and that money is taxes. People already bitch about most everything the government spends money on...propose this and see what happens. :?

Frame a better argument next time, Henny.

They should bitch about much of what it's spent on, but tough shit on this one. It needs to be done.

Cool story...propose this and see what happens. You can talk about what needs to be done, but it happening is a completely different story.

BTW, I've not stated a position on this, I've just asked questions. Pointing out that it would be a tough sell to the American people is just a statement of fact, not opinion.

This thread clearly proves to me that Native Americans have more to worry about than the name of a NFL team.

The pointless drivel here isn't going to convince anyone and I'm already tired of hearing about this after putting with way too much Fighting Sioux nonsense up in ND. :tothehand:

You guessed right. Nobody has to sell it to the American people. I don't remember being asked if we could give $3.5B to Israel last year. :coffee:

Anyway, we still need some real suggestions for the team name. Will be the third time in 15 years the area gets a new team name.

Hen, did you hear what Roger said on the Lavar show yesterday (or maybe the day before)?

“Well, as you guys know, I grew up in Washington,” said Goodell, who lived in Northwest D.C. until he was about 10. “The Colts were my team early on, and then I became a Redskins fan,” he continued. “So I know the team name is part of their history and tradition, and that’s something that’s important to the Redskins fans. And I think what we have to do though is we have to listen. If one person’s offended, we have to listen. And ultimately, it is Dan’s decision. But it is something that I want all of us to go out and make sure we’re listening to our fans, listening to people who have a different view, and making sure that we continue to do what’s right to make sure that team represents the strong tradition that it has for so many years.”

“Well, you know, we’re always sensitive to what impacts the league in general, and that includes our 32 teams, and making sure that we’re doing what’s right here,” Goodell said. “And that’s why I think, again, we have to do everything that’s necessary to make sure that we’re representing the franchise in a positive way, and that rich history and tradition. And that if we are offending one person, we need to be listening and making sure that we’re doing the right things to try to address that.”

I don't think there is any chance a name change will happen by next season, although I do think it will happen eventually.

I know it's a former baseball name, but I always like the Senators.

I wanted that for the Nats, but now I'm glad they went with Nats. With the state of our congress, Senators might not be the best name. ;)
