Tim Tebow won't be playing for his hometown team.

The Jacksonville Jaguars made it clear Thursday that they have no plans to pursue the popular and polarizing quarterback.

Tebow likely will be available this offseason after a disappointing campaign with the New York Jets, who were unable to find a consistent role for the former Heisman Trophy winner.

Sources told ESPN last month that the Jets likely will release Tebow, a Jacksonville native who has been linked to the Jaguars on numerous occasions.

But new general manager David Caldwell nixed the idea of acquiring Tebow at his introductory news conference Thursday.

"I can't imagine a scenario in which he'll be a Jacksonville Jaguar -- even if he's released," Caldwell said.

And Caldwell won't get any pushback from his new owner.

Shad Khan, who made a run at Tebow last year, said it was Caldwell's call.

"It's not my decision," Khan said. "I want to do whatever to help this team win. Who the players are is really the general manager's and coaches' -- it's a football-side operation decision. It's really not my decision."

Well at least Jacksonville is acting like they want to start winning.

Yeah, 'cause Tebow would improve that.

The record may not be better, but at least people would show up to see him. He's kind of a big deal in Florida ya know. It could be a stepping stone to fixing holes and then pick a franchise QB in 2014's draft. Seattle did it and look where they are.

Please explain why you think Tebow is anything but an overrated QB.

I can't, because he is overrated. But I have a problem when someone like Mark Sanchez gets to play through his horrific season, while Tebow doesn't get a chance. Just give him a shot and see what happens. If he sucks, then pull him and say you were right all along. But we'll never know from the Jets b/c Rex had a vendetta against the guy. Plus, he had earned the chance after helping the Broncos win last year. If he fails at QB after given the opportunity, I would simply use him in goal line situations since he could use the wildcat to throw teams off.

Rex doesn't have a vendetta against Tebow it was the owner that forced this guy down the throat of Rex.Sanchez's mechanics are better than Tebow's.

Rex doesn't have a vendetta against Tebow it was the owner that forced this guy down the throat of Rex.Sanchez's mechanics are better than Tebow's.

As a Dolphins fan, I love that Rex has so much faith in Sanchez. I hope they keep him for years
