Is it true Leonsis is going to change the name back? That would be so awesome! I'd have a team again.

:thumb: But he'll probably have a plethora of lawsuits coming his way.

I haven't called them that W-word since its' inception (I haven't seen that movie yet, btw). I might actually start watching them again....until I realize that the NBA regular season is an absolute snoozefest and that the Bullets suck real, real hard. :ohno:

What's not poetic about 'suck real, real hard?' :?

I'm not sure what kind of poetry you're into, but keep me out of it. :ohno:

I never understood why people came down on him for what he did before the 76ers game. That was some funny stuff.

Agent Zero and John Wall are going to be awesome.

Neat. You know names for teams that no one cares about. Wizards is still the worst.

Reject names from the NBA:

Chicago Stags
Indianapolis Olympians
Pittsburgh Ironmen
Providence Steamrollers (yes, they crossed over from the NFL)
Sheboygan Red Skins

And from the NHL:

Montreal Wanderers
New York Americans
Philadelphia Quakers

Why are you throwing out names that don't exist for any professional sports teams?

IMHO, the Macon Whoopee is still one of the best names in pro sports...

Image
The Macon Whoopee was the name given to two distinct former ice hockey teams, both of which were located in Macon, Georgia. The teams played their home games at the Macon Coliseum.

The first team, known as the Whoopees, played in the Southern Hockey League in 1973. Despite a brief flash of national publicity due to the unusual nickname (NBC aired their scores and highlights on its NHL Game Of The Week), poor attendance led the team to disband in mid-season.

Hockey was not resurrected in Macon until 1996. A new team, known as the Whoopee (without the plural "s") played in the Central Hockey League from 1996 to 2001 and the East Coast Hockey League in 2002. After several owners endured seasons of poor attendance and monetary losses, the team finally went under in 2002.
