Men's Big Sky Awards

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

The format has changed somewhat. There's no longer a 3rd. team, the 1st. & 2nd. teams are somewhat larger, and there's a new All-Defensive Team.

David Riley Gone to Wazzu

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

The Big Sky's first coaching change has finally happened. After Matt Logie withdrew from the Washington State job, that left EWU's David Riley as the only real suitor remaining. Riley went 62-38 in 2 seasons in Cheney and dominated the Big Sky regular-season, but there's a bitter taste for Eagle fans as his teams choked in the Big Sky quarterfinals against bottom-feeders both times.

EWU Hires Dan Monson

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

The Eagles may benefit from LBSU's dubious firing of Monson in March. Monson, of course, began Gonzaga's mid-major powerhouse run with an Elite-8 appearance in 1999. He then spent 7+ seasons at Minnesota and 17 with the 49ers in Long Beach. His last decade-plus at LBSU wasn't great, though, as they had only 1 winning season from 2012-21.

Might be a good fit with Inland Northwest roots and perhaps a chance to stick around a few years.
