Whoever loses SUU/WEB will get the #4 seed.
Montana has clinched the #5 seed.
Whoever wins PSU/EWU will get #6, while the loser gets #7.

Women - Idaho State Clinches Outright Title

The Bengals backed into it, but they got bailed out by NoCo's upset of Montana State.

This also means Montana will have to beat Sac to get a bye (whoever wins gets it). NAU leads Idaho by 18 with ≈4:00 to go, so it looks like the 'Jacks will get the other bye.

Sac gets 8 if they upset the Griz and NAU loses. Idaho losing is the ONLY way ISU gets out of the cellar. That said, NAU is in the driver's seat for 8 because they're 4-1 against the Bottom Four. Sac at 3-3 would be better off if they were playing anyone further down the totem pole than the Griz. We benefit with the upset, but it's probably not likely to happen. Idaho's 1-4 mark against the Bottom Four is what makes their game against NAU so huge: Idaho HAS to win, or they're in the cellar. ISU has no voice because their season is done; they're either in the cellar or they're bailed out by an NAU choke job, which I also don't think is likely. Sac CAN'T finish in the cellar because they're 2-0 against ISU.

A really complicated mess, right?

I guess MSU DID get into NFL pre-playoff mode. They BARELY held off UNC....

EWU d. PSU 83-75.
Idalol d. NAU 78-69
MT State d. UNC 87-85
SUU leads BBQ 14-8 12:06 1H
Sac at Montana 1800 PST

This means (so far):

1. MSU
2. SUU/BBQ winner
3. UNC
4. SUU/BBQ loser
5. UM
6. EWU
7. PSU
8-11. Who knows?

I think I have that right. Please correct me, Venus....

NoCo clinches the #3 seed.
The SUU/Weber winner will be #2, while the SUU/Weber loser will be #4.

Idaho has clinched the #8 seed (even if Sac wins, Idaho will win the tiebreaker on common games regardless of how SUU/WEB goes).
If Sac loses to Montana: #9 - NAU, #10 - SAC, #11 - ISU
If Sac beats Montana: #9 - SAC, #10 - ISU, #11 - NAU

I don't see that, Venus. If Sac loses to Montana, Idaho would get it based on 6-14 vs. 5-15. If Sac wins, Sac and Idaho would be tied at 6-14. Looking at common opponents, if Sac beats Montana (losing now), Sac would be 6-13, while Idaho is 5-14. That list of common opponents includes the double round robin of Big Sky games and Cal Poly. In fact, the difference is the Cal Poly game: Sac won, while Idaho lost. I see a Sac win putting Sac in 8.

If Sac wins (and they're up 5 with under 1:00 at this time), they & Idaho will both be 6-14.

Idaho wins the tiebreaker on common games against Portland State. Both teams were swept by MSU, both teams were swept by SUU, both teams went 1-3 against the UNC/WEB tie, both teams would go 2-2 against the UMT/EWU tie, but Idaho split with PSU while Sac was swept.

I just went through it all again. Totaling up the double round robin, Sac and Idaho are both 5-13. That leaves the common Cal Poly game, which Sac won and Idaho lost. That's the tiebreaker right there. Sac is 8, Idaho is 9....

That doesn't make any sense, though. The common games comparison starts at the top of the standings and works its way down.

The only reason I can see that Sac would win the tiebreaker is that they broke the UNC/WEB tie first (Sac split with UNC). I thought they were supposed to look at common games against other ties collectively.

Of course, I can't find a Big Sky tiebreaking procedure that's more recent than several years ago online anywhere.

No problem here (and who gets #8 vs. #9 doesn't really matter). I'm just confused as to why Sac is #8 since that doesn't fit the tiebreaking procedure I'm familiar with, and I can't find a really recent one on the Big Sky site anywhere.

I guess they've just completely thrown out the idea of a conference champion/contender getting MVP now. I don't even think Tillman was the MVP for Sac State, to be honest. Also… it's weird that Tillman won MVP, but Natabou won Newcomer when they were both newcomers. :?
