Family trivia. Dad went to Simpson College in Indianola, IA before transferring to the U of Iowa. Our family beach house where the folks retired to in 1994 is just a few miles from Indianola, WA.

I still have his crew neck Simpson letter sweater from 1952. Gold with a big red “S” in the middle.

This Simpson College is in Redding, CA. We were going to play them after Sac State cancelled on us, but they could not get through the snow in the Siskiyous. They made it through the Portland snow, however.

Overloading on short-term players has become an issue the last 2-3 years (some of the "short-term" has been unintentional, of course). The Griz are starting to look like Tyler Geving's Portland State teams: top Big Sky talent, but lacking cohesion. DeCuire seems like more of a hard-ass than Geving, too, so that may not mesh well with a mercenary recruiting strategy.

Geving was a big teddy bear to the players when he was at PSU, so it wouldn't take much to be a bigger hard-ass. Geving put up with a lot from his players. When Peery came in, the way he dealt with Deontae North showed from the start that things were going to change, and even if you are the best player on the team, you can't act like a knucklehead.

Griz’ problem right now is youth, I believe..that is why there’s little cohesion....There was a lot riding on Gaskin & Satterwhite & Steadman this year....now NONE of them are here and we’re seeing three freshmen and three sophomores getting the bulk of the playing time.

Portland State and Idaho have both passed their COVID testing. There will be a men's game tonight.

Idaho State's replacement game Saturday with Montana State-Billings is cancelled due to a pause in basketball activities at MSU-Billings. Ironically, this game was to replace a game against THE Montana State that was cancelled after the Bobcats paused their basketball activities due to COVID.

Viks scored more points in the second half (43) than Idaho had the entire game (40). Vandals were outscored in the second half, 43-16. Also, this is the least amount the Viks have allowed since joining the Big Sky back in 1996.

Two days after the men allowed their fewest total points against a DI opponent since joining the Big Sky, the women allowed their fewest total points against any opponent since joining the Big Sky. Points are getting a bit stingy here on the Park Blocks.
