How long can Western Illinois hang with Missouri?

Its the 3rd game of the regular season for the Leathernecks and the first game for Missouri although they have 2 exhibitions under their belt! WIU's win over Savannah State took some courage at the end with the full pressure applied throughout most of the game. Hopefully that has gotten WIU ready for the Missouri on-slaught!

I really think that it says alot for the Summit League conference that SDst. and NDst. have significant wins over Iowa and UCSB along with near misses to Oregon and IPFW's ot loss to Xavier. How about Oakland's victory over Ohio although their stud from last years tournament team has been thrown out the door. The addition of the Dakota's X 3 has truly solidified this conference and added significant numbers to its fan base. Unfortunately, Centennary is at the moment dying a slow death even though they have scheduled some major teams this year and that will hurt the conferences RPI in the long run. But things are definitely changing for the Summit League in a good way. Last year's pre-conference totals were no where near where they are this year at 12-10 on 11/19/2010. Oral Roberts will get theirs' as time goes on along with IUPUI! The subject of Chicago State seems to surface on a regular basis. The Cougars were basically asked to leave because of a shoddy athletic administration. Not sure if they have cleaned themselves up since then or not. They have a nice arena but still draw small crowds. They have been attached to the Great West Conference but just seem unable to get any traction in regards to press or fan support. It truly is a city school with only a couple of dorms which have been recently built. Most students commute to and from which does not help attendance.

So here is hoping the Western and Coach Mo can take it to the Tigers tonight! The Necks play great defense and have a presence now in the lane with 6'8" Kimarr Price. Ceola Clark, who was the conference defensive player of the year last year is a junior and alot of people in Macomb think the team is on it's way!

Once again I have to giggle at all the press the Big Sky was getting in regards to ND and SD. Some posters made it sound like the Summit was going in the way of the DoDo Bird which as you know is now extinct! To quote my favorite line from Young Frankenstein, "its alive, its alive!" :notworthy:

The Necks go down, 66-61! Missouri's pressure is highly regarded. Western hung in and will be a factor to be dealt with in the future. Wyoming is in for a tough ball game!
