In the fourth quarter, an Eastern Washington player was called for a late hit out of bounds. The penalized player, however, was illegally blocked in the back by a Montana player, propelling him in to a Montana player out of bounds.

Late in the third quarter an Eastern Washington wide receiver was called for unsportsmanlike conduct as he slowed down on his way to the end zone. His actions, however, did not warrant the penalty.
I didn't see the first play referenced, but the second one (on the EWU receiver) was completely BOGUS. Almost as bogus as the unsportsmanlike penalty against Mariani for signaling "first down" after a great catch.

Refs are trying to make it a No Fun League. :coffee:

Ditto.I'd like to see the game decided by the players and coaches please, not the refs. Frickin' horrible!

I am wondering what the other 4 plays that are under review are. Here's a few that come to mind:

1.) The B.S. unsportsmanlike on the Montana player when he signalled a 1st down. Big deal, dude.....thats unsportsmanlike?
2.) The questionable PI calls and no-calls that went both ways
3.) The punt that was downed on the 1yl. The Montana player was in the end zone and came back out to down it. It should have been spotted at the 20yl.
4.) The play Boyce got hurt - Nichols ran the ball in - he clearly passed the goal line, it was a TD. Yes, Jones runs it in on the next play, but that was time burned off the clock.

“I believe our officiating ranks among the best in the Football Championship Subdivision, if not all of Division I football.”
Bull-fucking-shit.

Not to drag this out, but I'd also be interested in seeing a replay of the Mariani punt return. I could be wrong, but it looked like he stepped out.

1.) dead on and the call on Boyce was complete BS as well.
2.)Dead on again.
3.) It was the wrong call no matter but the only excuse I could see would be that they were saying it just went out of bounds at the one yd. line but on the video it is clear that he touched it.
4.) Not so much on that one. On top of the fact that he was down at 1 or 1 1/2, time wasn't the issue anyway. 4th & 10 and a dropped pass over the middle to turn it over on downs was the issue.

I posted the pics on the EWU/UM thread that SE174 started the other day if you feel like taking a look they are over there. Every conference complains about the refs but they were particularly poor in this game. Both teams played fairly sloppy though so I guess they had a lot to watch.

Bull-****-****.
I am reminded of Glanville's quote on NFL Films, "This is the N-F-L, which stands for Not For Long when you make those types of calls"

Let me paraphrase it for you, "This is the B-S-C-, which stands for Bull **** Conference when you make those types of calls".

Or my favorite one, which I have used from time to time, "This is the F-C-S, which stands for F*****' Chicken S*** when you make those types of calls".

Sorry I couldn't resist.
