WTF? What happened to you? I mean, you've never been GREAT, but you were at least passable. It wasn't all that long ago (2002) that you were 8-3 and Co-champions of the BSC. It wasn't all that long ago (2003) that you had a victory against the Griz and an 8-4 record to sport. Suddenly (2004) you go 3-8, followed closely by 5-6, 2-9, 3-8 and 1-11 seasons. This year, you're 0-7, you've lost to a D-II team, and most likely will NOT win a game.

Perhaps it really IS time to throw in the towel and spend that money on something more productive...

Put them in the CAA and they would go 4-4. Because they have a good quarterback.

Last game of the year, they host Portland State. They beat the Vikings the last time they played the Vikings in Pocatello.

Do you think PSU is worse this year than Central Washington?

Back in the mid to late 90's and th early part of this decade they had a pipeline of recruiting in the Florida area that helped them out quite a bit with talent. When they were pulling in guys like Alfredo Anderson and others they were not bad but that has all dried up. Their system has failed miserably in recruiting and the overall program in general and they are going to have a very tough time coming back from this.

No I don't. But with football, there are teams that don't match up well with other teams. Under Glanville, the Vikings have been a terrible road team. And even with how bad the Bengals have been, weird things happen to road teams in the Arena. There is also a chance that, in that game, the Bengals may have something to play for (avoid a 0-fer season), more than the Vikings.

EWU matches up well with the Griz. I don't think anyone will think that Weber State will go into Wash-Griz and manhandle the Griz, though, like they did against the Eagles. That would be shocking if it happens.

This Idaho State team looks even worse than the winless 2000 Bobcats. At least that MSU team played some conference opponents close. The Bengals' closest DI game this year was a 38-17 loss to Sac.

I definitely agree with you on this one Jalmond. Football is about match ups and it is funny how they work out sometimes. I don't know what it is about the Eags, but they play us tough in Wa-Griz. Maybe we should be quiet for a game or something......naw! I am nervous about the Halloween match up, but I also think the Griz will win in a close, hard fought game, it is just the way these 2 teams have been matching up lately.

But look on the bright side...there are two good Idaho teams in D1 football this year as opposed to the usual one

True. For the first time in years, I don't have to be embarrassed to be a Vandal. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

OK. Nevermind. I'm still embarrassed.

ISU needs to tap the alumni pockets of Jared Allen. Maybe he will finance ISU to a better team....

Seeing the Vandellas being this successful is surprising and I think a lot of Griz fans found their struggles amusing because they were "Tag-along Idaho".

I read an article on the Bengals fan forum about sending Idaho State to D2, because they lost 48 of thier last 62 football games, and had 1 winning mens basketball season in the last 20.

The article talked about how they cant compete at this level, and that they were a small fish in a big pond.

That's still better than Indiana State. Can you imagine how depressed those guys are? Even worse than ISU. Now that would be a game.

Yes, I do. Maybe not over a whole season, but in any given game, Central Washington, currently #3 in Division II and undefeated would have a good chance of beating most teams in the Big Sky this year.

A year or two ago, I would have said send both Idaho State and Southern Utah to Division II. But, Southern Utah has shown some life of late as a competitive team. So, maybe just Idaho State. The GNAC could use them.

Reports of the death of the Idaho State football program are a bit premature.

Even with all the Idaho State disasters this year, the Bengals are still rated more highly than 24 FCS teams in the latest Gridiron Power Index.

Nine conferences including the Missouri Valley, Ohio Valley, Big South, MEAC and SWAC have teams ranked lower on the totem pole. Maybe some of us are spoiled by participating in the more competitive conferences.

I dont really like Idaho State, but I would hate to see them go, they are a charter member of the Big Sky, and if they left Weber would be rival-less. And nothing lasts forever, just a very long time in ISU's case.
