Holy Cross above Delaware?
UMass way above Delaware?
McNeese 7 spots above SFA?
UCA 4 spots above SFA?
Colgate at 17?
SFA has a legit beef with this one.

The coaches seem to have a problem with Delaware. they will be proven wrong in the end.

No shit. Delaware rolls at LEAST 10 teams above them in the poll.

Those that are bashing JMU getting any votes are ignoring the context.
We were #6 pre-season, behind BOTH UR and 'Nova. Knowing that, we SHOULD have been 3-3 at this point (losses to Maryland, UR, 'Nova). We had a good showing against Maryland, so no loss there. Won against VMI and Liberty. No losses there.
Tanked at Hofstra, almost beat UR and tanked against Nova. Only one of those losses wasn't expected (although I would conceded that two performances - Hofstra and 'Nova - were surprising) Again, I'm not saying that we're top 25 because I didn't put us there, but it's conceivable that somebody could have us in the 20-25 range. Let's say we were #6 going into Hofstra and you dropped us 10 places due to the loss, so now we're at No. 16. Then we show up and almost beat UR (five yards away). They're No. 1, so that's a minimal loss, say 17-18. Then we lose to 'Nova. Granted it's bad but they're Top 5, so you drop us 4 or 5 spots, 24-25 range. Combine that with the Liberty win (and this is the first poll that doesn't have Liberty ahead of us) and you have a "good faith" argument for a Top 25 vote. Again, that's not my reasoning, but I don't think it's super far fetched.

All that's well and good, but the whole REASON for us waiting for 4 weeks was to see what teams brought to the table. JMU has brought NOTHING. They shouldn't even be sniffing the top 25 right now.

No, I'm with you, but what does that say about Liberty?

It says they've got the easiest fucking schedule in the world, and lost to the only two teams worth a shit on it.

They're going to go 9-2 and be eating Thanksgiving dinner at their parent's houses.

Yea, but for poll purposes, shouldn't we all be having a shit fit? They got beat by shitty ole JMU and they're not only getting votes, but they're in some polls!!!

This is the coaches poll, after all. It's just based on reputation, and they move them up and down from preseason as teams win or lose. I would actually be worried if it had anything close to a reasonable ranking.

Does anyone think that the coaches actually put a lot of thought into this?
They are watching game film and running practices. They study their opponents and very little else. Why the heck should the UD coach know anything about how Elon or NAU is doing if they are not on their team's schedule?
Hell, minus the homers who blindly vote for their team and who don't watch anyone else, the people on this site, many of whom watch multiple games from multiple conferences,(mainly because we are nuts) probably have a better idea of how the teams rank.
All that being said, most of what most folks need to know will shake out in the next few weeks.

Dead fuckin' on. I don't want a coach that know everything about everyone else, I want a coach that knows everything about the next team on the schedule and that is it.
I don't get why people bang on the coaches poll.
