No doubt that Devlin is the real deal.. he came in from Penn St with a ton of hype.. but he has certainly lived up to all expectations. After six games Devlin's stats:

119 for 181 - 65.7% - 1536 yrds - 11 TDs - 3 INTs - QB rating - 153.8

Next three games, Hens should be favored.

Then two tougher road games.

Hens need to win 4 of 5 to get to 7 wins.

Facing a good team in a good venue can do that to a team. Never underestimate the difference a great QB makes.

CAA Offensive Player of the Year........no doubt about it.

You figure we've already matched last year's win total without radically different personnel, save for the QB position. In fact, the projected playmaker, Josh Baker at TE, was lost for the season in game one.

Devlin has pumped up a team that was deflated and demoralized with Robbie Schoenhoft et al at QB last year.

CAA Player of the Week for the 2nd week in a row. Too bad he may be just handing off come halftime of the Towson game, but 2 weeks off will heal a lot of injuries. ;)

So, with Devlin back there will UD be making a serious challenge at the CAA and the playoffs?

not unless 7-4 qualifies them for the playoffs

the Hen's remaining schedule..

@ Towson
JMU
Hofstra
@ Navy
@ Villanova

UD will be hard pressed to do any better than 7-4.

I predict your playoff season will be hanging in the balance the morning of 11/21, when you enter the Villanova game @ 7-3. Where UD screwed the pooch was not taking the "W" against Richmond when you should have easily won that game (based on the way Richmond played).

daHenz - a blocked EP-length FG away from 5-1 and a top 10 ranking.

Of course, with Navy, Nova, and JMU looming, they're staring at 7-4, 4th or even 5th place in the CAA South, and a very thin bubble with a grumpy NCAA committee...

IF Delaware makes the playoffs........they have as good a shot as anyone at winning it all. :thumb:

UD should be favored in their next 3 games. JMU is the wildcard, if they lose this week they're done & could conceivably come to UD as a 5-loss team & mentally fried.

I think it comes down to having to beat either Navy or 'Nova on the road in November.

That's it in a nutshell, and OH THE HUMANITY if we happen to stumble on Towson or Hofstra. :o

If Delaware ends up 7-4 they will only have 6 D1 wins. Miss the playoffs. Maybe that will be the kick needed to get west Chester off the scedule

KC is on the record as wanting no FBS or sub-FCS opponents on the schedule as soon as possible. He realizes the liability of having a D-II on the schedule along with the brutal CAA South slate.

Maybe we can land Western State? Colorado School of Mining perhaps?

Nobody at Delaware wants WCU on the schedule anymore. That scheduling was the product of the same geniuses that avoided DelState for twenty five years, let Delaware Stadium go untouched for forty years, and requested 3,000 tickets for an 11,000+ season ticket base for the 2007 National Championship game. Thankfully, that group has been shown the door.
